    A Little Good Advice
You can't make money gambling on sports, unless you have 100% knowledge of outcome probabilities, witch most don't. If you pick favorites, the books don't pay you so you loose, if you pick underdogs you loose most bets. Sports betting is a massive scam set up to exploit the average man. STOP GAMBLING!

Thx for the advice. Have to agree that most lose in the long run. But do not see anything wrong if betting for Entertainment purposes only. Kind of like spending $$$ on a good meal, skiing, golf etc. It is what it is. If you think you can make a primary income by sports gambling, one is in for a rude awakening.

No problem my friend, I want to wake people up and help them. And what you are saying is fine, but you have to understand that literally, no one gambles for entertainment. If people were told that they don't have a shot in the world at winning money, they would NOT gamble! It would just be plain dumb to do so. PLEASE WAKE UP PEOPLE AND STOP THROWING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN AND INTO THE POCKETS OF THESE MASSIVE BETTING CORPORATIONS WHO TRY TO SELL YOU THE ILLUSION THAT YOU HAVE A SHOT AT WINNING ANYTHING. THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO WIN ARE THESE BLOODSUCKERS, NOT THE AVERAGE MAN.

I will say this. I think it is very possible to win betting only MLB and NHL. Because scoring is at a premium, there is a greater chance that the dog wins outright. There is no spread in the same sense that most play ATS in basketball and football. I know most associate pure randomness with picking winners in these two sports, but I assure you that there is some method to the madness. Also, if you are interested in a rough estimate of either teams projected ability to win a game, there are several sites that provide these rough estimates.

sports betting is much more +ev than playing the lottery or playing slots.

I would really like to know how you came to the conclusion that underdogs usually win in mlb and nhl? Is this a fact? Are you claiming that you are making money betting on these sports? I very highly doubt it.

My friend, does loosing money really entertain you? Just cause you don't go out and drink, doesn't mean its a good idea to through your hard earned money down the drain. You should understand that most certainly you will be in the minus when you gamble.

Sometimes you win. Then you get the best of both worlds. Entertainment and some extra $ in your pocket.

Underdogs don't usually win, but given the very long seasons of each league, the fact that the league's best teams usually lose 40% of their games, and there is plenty of opportunity to capitalize, these leagues are much easier to profit from in the longterm. I know there are a lot of people that are anti-flat betting, but it's not a bad strategy to use for the most part in these leagues, especially if you are consistently betting dogs and small favs. I mostly flat bet ($100) and occasionally I will make a nice sized wager of anywhere from $500 to 1k. Another reason that I believe baseball is much easier to bet and handicap, is because it features a series of individual actions. It makes it much easier to project the outcome of different scenarios. There's also the fact that MBL is a stat nerd's wet dream. There's an abundance of resources out there, which isn't true for other leagues. IMHO, this is much harder to do in basketball and football because so many variables come into play simultaneously. I have not only profited off mlb, but I have greatly profited off it. I have experienced more moderate gains in NHL, but I have not had a losing season. This does not guarantee that I will continue to have success, but I feel more confident betting these sports than basketball and football.

At this point, you can say that I am making everything up and that's okay with me. Again, thank you 5dimes for my theater room.
