#10You don't have a bank account?
Not tricky if you have a checking or savings account at a bank. Takes 10 dollars and 5 minutes of your time to open one up.Comment -

Can I ask you why the absolute need to cash it today? You can't be THAT broke.
Today is a banking holiday, why not just cash it tomorrow at your CU?Comment -

If he has a bank account...and per his own admission...he has a CU account....all he has to do is take it there and cash it.
What no one has explained to him is that most third party check cashing offices take a %. So if someone is directing him to check cashing office, I sure hope he understands he will be giving up some of his money.
The easiest, and least costly method available to him....if he isn't broke....is to take it to his bank/cu and cash it there.
Why is that such a difficult thing to understand?Comment -

At most your bank/cu will place a hold on it until the funds clear. 3-5 business days is tops. Longer if you are a new customer. If you are a long time customer, they will probably cash it for you asap.
Know this. If you go to a third party to cash your money order, they will charge you a % of your money order. I have no idea what it will be, but I am guessing 3-5%. Which on a 500 dollar money order would be $15-25.
Now, if you want to avoid those costs, take it to your own bank/cu. It will cost you the least, and be the easiest for you.Comment -

#28Come on ZBOIZ. I am not trying to make fun, but if you have a bank, or a credit union account....surely you must have realized you could cash it there, right?

#30Speaking of money orders, I don't know why books don't use these to accept deposits and make payouts to customers. From what I understand, money orders are untraceable and they are international. You go to a gas station, ask for a money order for $1000, and they never ask for ID or who you are sending it to. You write all that info in yourself. So the books could write in that it is from Brazil Bakini company and to be paid to the customer. Untraceable. What am I missing here?Comment -

I think the issue with money orders has more to do with their authenticity. Some whackanuts are creating phony money orders and I know some banks place an automatic stop/hold on any money order not drawn on their ABA number/Acct number.
Verification could possibly address that problem, but some of the larger commercial banks refuse that because of the time required to do so.
I do agree, all things being equal this would seem to be an easy method of cashing/depositing. But there would be a lot of time constraints waiting for money to clear on either end of the system.Comment -
