MLB will have an interesting decision to make.

Doesnt look like anyone will beat him.

        Yes and no.

He doesn't have enough at bats to be eligible but, in its place, he can still win if they take the remaining at-bats, count them as outs, and if he still has the highest batting average. You need 502 At-Bats to be eligible [3.1 per game]. Melky has 459, so he will get 43 outs in order to reach that number. In other words, he's not winning the batting title so don't worry about it lol.

Cabrera won't win the batting title so it's a moot point. He has 159 hits, so when you give him the 43 outs to reach 502 ABs, his average for batting title purposes is only .317 (although it will stay at .346 in the official records).

According to the MLB Rule Book:
To assure uniformity in establishing the batting, pitching and fielding
championships of professional leagues, such champions shall meet the following
                  minimum performance standards:
                  (a) The individual batting, slugging or on-base percentage champion shall be the
player with the highest batting average, slugging percentage or on-base percentage,
as the case may be, provided the player is credited with as many or more total
appearances at the plate in league championship games as the number of games
scheduled for each club in his club’s league that season, multiplied by 3.1 in the
case of a Major League player and by 2.7 in the case of a National Association
player. Total appearances at the plate shall include official times at bat, plus bases
on balls, times hit by pitcher, sacrifice hits, sacrifice flies and times awarded first
base because of interference or obstruction. Notwithstanding the foregoing
requirement of minimum appearances at the plate, any player with fewer than the
required number of plate appearances whose average would be the highest, if he
were charged with the required number of plate appearances shall be awarded the
batting, slugging or on-base percentage championship, as the case may be.

Rule 10.22(a) Comment: For example, if a Major League schedules 162 games for each
club, 502 plate appearances qualify (162 times 3.1 equals 502) a player for a batting, slugging or onbase
percentage championship. If a National Association league schedules 140 games for each club,
                  378 plate appearances qualify (140 times 2.7 equals 378) a player for a batting, slugging or on-base
percentage championship. Fractions of a plate appearance are to be rounded up or down to the closest
whole number. For example, 162 times 3.1 equals 502.2, which is rounded down to a requirement

"Cabrera has 501 plate appearances, one fewer than the required amount if the Giants play 162 games. Under section 10.22(a) of the Official Baseball Rules, he would win the batting title if an extra hitless at-bat is added to his average and it remains higher than that of any other qualifying player."

                        plate appearances not AB's

I think McCutch gets hot and catches him

if Melky were to win, I don't think MLB would give him the actual silver slugger award or batting champion award

mlb already said they would give it to him.

this teaches the younger crowd, its going to cheat, because winning is winning.

                                    MLB won't bar Melky Cabrera
                                    Associated Press

NEW YORK -- Major League Baseball appears unlikely to interfere if Melky Cabrera wins the NL batting title while serving his 50-game suspension for a positive drug test.

The San Francisco Giants outfielder began Wednesday with a league-leading .346 average, seven points ahead of Pittsburgh's Andrew McCutchen.

Cabrera has 501 plate appearances, one fewer than the required amount if the Giants play 162 games. Under section 10.22(a) of the Official Baseball Rules, he would win the batting title if an extra hitless at-bat is added to his average and it remains higher than that of any other qualifying player.

"You can't change records because once you get into that, it would never stop. It would create more problems than it would solve. ” MLB commissioner Bud Selig on suspended OF Melky Cabrera possibly winning the NL batting title

"We'll see how it all plays out," Selig said Wednesday after taping an episode of "CenterStage" for the YES Network. "We generally don't interfere in that process. We'll take a look at it at the end of the year."

mvp is voted on by the sports writers and is not affiliated with mlb.

it's why mvp, cy young award, as well as, hall of fame are increasingly becoming silly awards with the more we learn about player value.
