    Why Can't You......
Why can't you parlay a runline with say the over??

Tonite I was looking at the Astros -1.5 ( alt rl) and the over 7.5

What is the logic of not being able to place this bet?

Why just the moneyline and the total within the same parlay?

    Thanks

I guess you should take the lack of replies as the fact that no one knows. I surely don't.

You can do it but only at certain sportsbooks...like BetCris for example. In fact at Cris you can even parlay MLB 1st half (or 2nd half) run lines with an over/under. I believe at Diamond International (BetCris 'lil brother) you can do it as well.

The reason is because the two plays in the parlay are correlated. If Houston wins by a blowout, is more likely that both bets will win. 5-3, 6-2, 7-1, 8-0 are lots of likely combinations that are wins for both legs.

At the same time the DEGREE that the bets are correlated isn't so great that many books will really worry about it. Many books will let you play this, because they don't want to piss you off, and even if there is some correlation, it is often not enough to overcome the juice.

Situations like these are why Pinnacle isn't really the type of book that is recommended for parlay players, because they restrict almost any parlay that might be even a little correlated.
