I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes by saying this, but if I couldn't/didn't have time to analyze the games myself, the guy I would follow in the dark is pags11. Now, he doesn't writeup games - he will post why he likes certain games in the discussion thread - but his system is such that he will produce a profit more often than not, and the variance is low.

To answer Dr Phil I can tell you who's definitely not the best capper... ME !!!!!!
I've bet on NFL for 2 full seasons now but never really capped so I look forward to learning a lot this year.

Oh yeah, I forgot IMGV94 in football. He went on some unbelievable runs last year. I kept waiting for him to crash last year but he never did.

thank you brother, coming from you that means a lot...in turn, I think Razz is one of the most solid cappers on here...he does his research and has good money management...

I also need to mention imgv, as I think he's an excellent young capper...

as far as I go, trust me that I have good reasoning in my selections...it's just that I rarely have time to do write-ups 'cause I'm on to capping the next game...

I think discussing the games with people really helps
everyone. That is one of the reasons why I post my
plays, I like to get feedback from different football
minds. 2 minds are better than one, 10 minds are better

Thanks pags. Your pretty good yourself. Pags has to be
the most discipline gambler I have ever seen. Pags is
very easy to follow cause he gets good lines,bets
a good portion of dogs and pays barely any juice
ever. I commend pags style. I am more of the wild
type cause sometimes I am a gambler. Pags is more
of an investor!!

I made 10x my stake last year and 8x the year previous. The year before and the year before and the year before were all over, so I can't say- I was learning. I won't say I'm the best. I'll say I'm probably the luckiest. I know I am. I watch ALL the games every season and follow the NFL year-round, because I love it.

With the NFL, your heart KILLS you. If I listened to my mind (not talking logic in handicapping here) more than my heart, I'd win a few more games, easy.

With that said, I really liked following IMG last season. His tilt was as short as you will EVER see. I think it could be bad luck, but you call a black cat a black cat and if you followed his system, you'd make a bundle. I.E. Pushing a big part of your roll in on a huge favorite with a sweet line. As for other cappers on SBR? I followed a few on paper for shits/giggles and they mostly were slightly ahead, but barely (aside for IMG heh - the dude was CRAZY, but hit). Actually, all but 3 or 4 did o.k. at worst on here.

I didn't, but that's now how I bet. I bet what I want when I want and pray I win. I am not a normal capper and am against the traditional 'handicapper' logic (which, mathematically is HUGELY wrong on my part - which is why I'm a square and not a sharp) - I believe in 1 big bet versus 10 small bets with less variance. I see their logic, but a few seasons of betting has told me one thing about the NFL (just like in playing poker...) You get your money in with a real winner and see what happens. Handicapping, to me, with the NFL, is like screwing your hot cousin. Sounds great for now, but tommorrow, you wish you never did. I don't do this for a living - but between football betting and poker (and some minor soccer betting), I do real well - well, well enough to move to Vegas and give myself a shot at being a real card player full time (sportsbetting is only a hobby at this point, although I'd rather it be fulltime, as I probably watch 4-8 hours of sports per day with tivo). I will also say, I'm a micro-bettor at both poker and sports betting. It's easy when you don't have to worry what you are putting up... It's WAY easier when you dont' sweat a loss - which is why people go NUTS about how big your unit is. If you care about it - why bother gambling it? Just put it in there and know you'll hit - psychologically,you will, most of the time (especially when the number is small).

At any rate - I am only 'touting' myself - and not for anyone else... I havn't picked more than 4 picks/week, and I did that for a pool (and under the regulation and I had to pick a -7 or worse dog EVERY week) and still hit over 65%. I'll pick a game or 2 per week (If I make picks at all - I pick every other week MAYBE after week 10). If you like 'square' bets, I'm as square as they get. You just know when putting your roll in -800 against the jets will pay you off. I'm luck like that. I do that all the time and god damn I'm lucky so far.

I'm not a 'sharp' bettor though, by any stretch. I just have a feeling after watching every team and following them all in their local media how well they will come out every week. The NFL is impossible to cap, IMO - that's why I bet so few games. You can find an edge anywhere you like.... But with so much parity,you have to use your brain a whole lot more than math, IMO, to beat the odds. Weird things happen that slay world-beaters. The division in talent in the NFL is so small that when you 'just know' a team will win, you better pray it's something like a 'quitting' jets team versus carolina team rolling into the playoffs - in carolina. If it's a closer matchup than that, I still don't see the value of it in the NFL with the closely contested rosters and the WIDE varience of things that can happen.

I'd love to debate a 'pure' capper on this and put my square picks vs theirs week to week - I think it'd sure be real close. That's why I love the NFL. It's real close with the lines - ALWAYS.
