NFC South: Monday Night Showdown

ATL and NO are both 2-0 su & ats. I like the home team here getting 3.5 (there are some 3's on the SBR Odds board at the time of this writing and there's a single 4).

I think this game will prove to be emotionally charged (nationally televised). An opportunity for NO to make a 'phoenix from the flames' type of statement. The Saints Come Marching In on their brand new post-Katrina turf after winning two opening road games.

ATL geared their team to face CAR and TB and now that they've accomplished that goal in weeks one and two, I see a potential let down against this perceived weaker divisional opponent. It's possible ATL wins this game but if they do I think it might only be by a field goal. Last year in this matchup where NO was the 'home team' (displaced by the hurricane) ATL won by 3. (The spread was 5.5).

NO finished 3rd overall last year in pass defense but 5th
last in run defense so Vick will be able to operate. NO has a
strong secondary though, so ATL should be running the ball
more on offense than perhaps they did in their first two games.

With Brees, McAllister and Bush and the optimism that's engulfed this club, NO can compete here. I just see
the scenario and the value on the side of the Saints. I'll
shop for 4 (4.5?!) though and it'll be a regular unit play.

This is a rough one. I hate to go against the aura that surrounds this game and that city, but; in a two team teaser with the over moved to 37.5, I can have the Falcons +2.5 or the Saints +11.5. I think it becomes a no-brainer. Falcons for everyone!

NFC South MNF Showdown September 25, 2006 - NO hosting
ATL with both teams 2-0 SU + ATS to open season. Emotional home game for NO (national t.v.) inaugurating rebuilt SuperDome post-Katrina. Last year in NO's 'home-game' of this series (displaced by the hurricane), ATL won by 3 with a 5.5 PS. Vick should be able to keep the running game going (NO soft linebacker corps - something like 5th last in run defense last year) but will have trouble passing (NO league 3rd best, I believe, in pass defense last season - good secondary, strong safteties). ATL focused on building to beat divisional rivals CAR and TB and managed just that in games 1 and 2 of the seaon. NO comes home heroically after 2 opening road victoires. ATL has satisfyingly accomplished beating CAR and TB and may be prone to let down here.
With Brees, Deuce and Bush, there's an air of revitalization and this NO team can compete. The whole country will be behind them tonight. If it does turn out ATL pulls out a victory
I can only see it by a field goal type of thing with Saints
covering if not winning outright. It would be poetically nice for
NO to win given all the city's been through. What I can't see is an ATL blowout with the game being so emotionally important to NO. U2 and Green Day open up ~ this field will be pumped! You wanna bet against NO save your money
till next week when they're going to CAR. That's why I like
the 4 pt dog (I shopped and got myself 4 1/2)

For me it's not a matter of knowing who's going to win - I just
think the value is situationally on NO's side. I'm playing one unit because I am aware (and wouldn't be shocked) if ATL wins and covers. I'm just with imgv94 on this one (see his
thread on this game). I like the Saints herevalue-wise situationally speaking. Laying off if you don't like it is a fine idea though Tricky ~ I'm a big believer in an anti-juice low-traffic policy . . . (P.S. I thought I was doing well getting 4 1/2 and now I see it posted one may even be able to get more closer to game time) . . .

I'm with you on the side unit darkghost (I have 4 1/2). I'm
going to lay off the total because I don't like going side and
total on same game - I always seem to go .500 when I do that. If you press me on the total I kind of lean to the under.
I don't see Vick passing all that successfully against strong
NO secondary. There may even be a couple of NO +INTs.
Stalled drives . . . FGs etc., I don't know, just thinking out loud, don't mind me. GL on the total . . .
