DeAngelo Hall is now a Redskin
I still can't believe the Raiders released him. No wonder that organization is in such a shambles.
Even though DeAngelo Hall wanted to take the weekend to consider 15 or more scenarios for a new team, the cornerback decided Friday to accept a one-year deal from the Washington Redskins, according to his co-agents, Joel Segal and Alvin Keels.

According to a source, Hall agreed to a one-year deal that is worth $492,000 for the remainder of the season, the prorated portion of his $1 million base salary that he would have received from the Oakland Raiders.

"He's excited to be coming home, he's a Virginia Tech guy," Segal told The Associated Press.

The Raiders released Hall on Wednesday, eight games into a seven-year, $72 million contract.

He walked away with $8 million this year and a chance to sign with a new team.

The New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers were among the teams aggressively recruiting Hall.

A source close to the Redskins said Hall spoke with Redskins coach Jim Zorn and some of Zorn's assistants before accepting a contract, and that team owner Daniel Snyder met with defensive captains London Fletcher and Cornelius Griffin to gauge their opinion of the move.

The Redskins are on a bye, so Hall won't make his first appearance in a Redskins uniform until Nov. 16, when Washington plays the Dallas Cowboys.

But Hall did struggle in coverage early in the season; he had shown signs of improvement in recent weeks, but was let go anyway following a 24-0 loss to the Atlanta Falcons that dropped Oakland to 2-6 on the season. In his eight games in Oakland, Hall was beaten 40 times for 552 yards on 66 passes thrown his way, according to data compiled by STATS. He gave up more yards than any defender this season and was tied for third worst in catches allowed.

He sure looked like the perfect fit for the Cowboys considering their new player business model.

With the Cowboys losing Pacman...this would have been a perfect pick up for the Cowboys. Still cant believe Jerry Jones didnt do it...and let him go to a division rival.

whats the point of him even signing? he's been already paid over $8 mill for 8 games and now he gets only $492,000 for 8 more games. i would just take the rest of the year off.

                          I agree 100%.

It's a win-win for both sides in this one. Hall gets a chance to parlay another big contract if he can show something this season, it's basically a freeroll for him right now. The Skins also get a virtual freeroll by paying him almost the minimum, while getting a quality talent which they can basically cut at any point along the way. At first I didn't think the Skins should gamble with their team chemistry, but it might be worth it because they can send the punk to the curb the first time he blinks wrong.

As for the Raiders, just more Al Davis senility.

                            So typical...

Of course the Raiders and Al Davis are stupid to let him go.

Ignore the fact that he gave up 40 catches (3rd worst in the NFL) on 66 passes in his direction for a league worst 552 yards given up. If any of you actually watched a Raiders game you'd see that the guy was completely lost in man to man coverage. He is a TERRIBLE cover corner. Davis realized he made a mistake getting the guy and corrected that mistake as soon as possible; had he finished the year, the extra $16 mil guaranteed would have kicked in. He wasn't a good fit in Oakland.

Beaten 40 times for 566 yards.

I mean Raiders have a future Hall of Famer at the other corner with Nnamdi Asomugha but that's beyond pathetic. 66 passes at Hall compared to just 9 at Asomugha. Wow......

The numbers don't even do it justice.

I swear... it is 3rd and 9, Hall is playing literally 8 yards "off" the WR... WR runs to first down marker, turns around, catches the easiest pass for the 1st down and THEN is tackled. Routinely.

I thought Hall would force QBs to make the mistake of throwing in Asomugha's direction; instead, since Denver and Eddie Royal exposed him, teams have been picking on Hall all year long.

                                He made games unwatchable.

When I read he was waived I was so happy! I didn't care what the media (or SBR) would say... what worries me though is that Asomugha is upset about it, making him even LESS likely to re-sign long term with us. That sucks really bad.

But Hall was the worst defensive player I've seen on the Raiders, and I've been watching every game even over the last 5 years.
