ACC vs Big 10 CHALLENGE !
Its that time of the year again everyone! The ACC vs Big 10 Challenge. The Big 10 took some tough losses this past week with Michigan State and Purdue both losing.

    Monday, November 29th
Virginia @ Minnesota--------- Ugh it would of been Minny but they have 2 starters out

    Tuesday, November 30th
North Carolina @ Illinois ------- ILLINOIS against one of the most inflated teams in the country

Ohio State @ Florida State -- Ohio State walked into Florida and there gonna walk into FSU and steal another

Michigan @ Clemson -- this is a coin flip IMO but it goes to Clemson
Georgia Tech @ Northwestern -- gonna be a tough one but im gonna give it to NW
Iowa @ Wake Forest--- Wake Forest

    Wednesday, December 1st
Michigan State @ Duke ---- I love my Spartans but going Duke
Purdue @ Virginia Tech --- Gonna be a pretty insane game but going with Purdue
North Carolina State @ Wisconsin --- Wisconsin
Indiana @ Boston College ---- Boston College
Maryland @ Penn State--- Hmmmmm Im gonna give Maryland the steal

    Final Results

    ACC--6

    Big 10-- 5

The Minnesota game is the ice breaker and its the first game of the challenge so it could be Big 10 with 6 wins and Acc with 5 wins

I'm excited about the ACC/Big Ten challenge as well. Don't underrate the Gophers - they have a talented and deep team and Tubby has them playing good ball. They should handle Virginia with ease, even without all of the pieces in the backcourt.

Minnesota will likely be without two injured starters -- point guard Al Nolen and small forward Rodney Williams -- for Monday's game against Virginia.

Playing Virginia +15.5 vs Minnesota I wanna Minny to win but Virginia should stay in reach of the spread without 2 starters

Maybe if this game was in Charlottesville I'd consider UVA +15.5, but at the Barn Minnesota will cover easily. UVA is just so awful, I can't help but feel like it would have been better for everyone if Tony Bennett never left Wazzu.

Illinois will straight up out-score UNC in a high scoring affair.

OSU too much offense, I still don't think FSU has an offense yet under Lenard Hamilton.

Clemson still has some talent left, Michigan is too young to win a road game. Clemson by 15+.

GT/NW might come down to home court. Neither team is very impressive, but at least NW can hit their jump shots.

Iowa is really bad and rebuilding, but they resemble the kind of team Wake Forest has been losing to so far. Wake fired Dino Gaudio because he couldn't get his players to focus on March rather than the NBA Draft in July. So they turn around and hire a guy whose only claim to fame is he had a cup of coffee coaching the Nuggets. Go figure.

MSU is not ready for prime time, just like every year. Duke is 10-1 in the challenge, soon to be 11-1.

Purdue is struggling to score, but I'm not a believer in Va. Tech, especially after the way they shot FTs vs. UNLV.

Wisconsin is really slipping this year. I truly believe this is the year they don't make the tournament. NC State wins at the Kohl's Center (despite the notoriously biased officiating) and the red flags will go up in Madison.

IU/BC will either be an ugly, low scoring game, or an ugly high scoring game. This is a game that IU should be able to win with a healthy Maurece Creek.

Maryland/Penn State: what does it tell you that a team with Taylor Battle is only known for rebounding?

My count: Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio State, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Duke, Purdue, NCST, Indiana, and Maryland.

Big Ten 6 ACC 5. GT/NW and Iowa/Wake are the biggest tossups. Clemson over Michigan is the biggest lock.

UVA is a good play at +15.5. I am also looking forward to the FSU/OSU line. FSU might be good value here. They play tough defense and are athletic enough to play with OSU. THey'll certainly be the dog, but there should be value.

A few notes on the VA/Minn game:

Only one current starter out. Rodney Williams has not been starting these past few games. It will hurt to have him out but should not affect the game much due to the gophers depth. Al Nolen will be missed much more.

Devoe Joseph returns for this game. He will most likely run point with Nolen out as he did last year. I do not see any drop off trading in Nolen for Joseph. Devoe is a much bigger scoring threat.

I would put my money on the gophers covering at home, but Tubby will almost definitely give lots of playing time to our freshman as he has quite a bit this year. Depends on how well Virginia can handle our large, physical front court.
