The 12th Annual Jimmy V Foundation Tournament tips off this evening at Madison Square Garden. Fittingly, the first match pits two coaching stalwarts as Eddie Sutton and Oklahoma State take on Jim Boeheim and Syracuse. Combined, they have more than 70 years as head coaches in the college ranks.
Our pick is the Oklahoma State Cowboys plus the points over Syracuse, as Okie State is 21-2 ATS vs. non-conference foes that are coming off a straight-up loss in their previous game, provided the current game is being played at home in Stillwater, or on a neutral court with tonight's contest being held at Madison Square Garden.
The Cowboys (9-0) are coming off consecutive 90-point efforts and led by Mario Boggan's 20.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Three other players are scoring in double digits for Eddie Sutton's squad.
Jim Boeheim's Orange (7-1) are off their first loss of the season, dropping a 64-61 decision to Wichita St in Syracuse on Saturday when a late rally came up short. Demetrius Nichols tops the team with 15.3 points, aslo grabbing 5.9 rebounds per game. Terrence Roberts leads the team with 9.3 boards while Josh Wright is doling out 5.0 assists per night.
With Syracuse off that loss to the Wichita State Shockers, we'll fade the Orange and play on Okie State tonight.
Play: Oklahoma St +3½
