Capping and Discussions, games of Monday 3/27
Hope this isn't too presumptuous of me, ILL.

I think this is where you want these, and I gotta get to bed . . .

    NBA Monday

    MIA (#7) by 8.1 over IND (#23)
    NJ (#1) by 6.4 over PHX (#9)
    UTH (#24) by 5.4 over NOK (#29)
    GS (#3) by 7.2 over WAS (#19)

Pretty quietly, the Nets and Warriors have piled up high score after high score – they are now both extremely undervalued based on most recent performance. Problem is, both are on the wrong end of a traveling “2-on-1” against excellent and decent opposition, respectively. Of the two, GS looks better to me – shorter travel, weaker opposition. Counting on PHX to fail is playing with fire.

All four games have b2b situations.

Miami has been a real cash burner for about a month. Main reason is they don't play defense. Indiana has been one of the best teams ATS in the second half and they got O'neal back today.

N.J. is very streaky and they have been on a hot streak of late but they won a huge road game at Detroit and they couldn't have picked a worse team to face in this b2b situation in the Suns who play very well on the road.

N.O. has totaly given up and they are on a long ATS losing streak. Worse place for them to play given their mental and physical fatigue is high altitude UtAh but have got to cover 6.5 and other than winning a total play with that bunch here and they the Jazz have burned me to a crisp. Still can't imagine N.O. being in any condition to put up much resistance and Jazz have lost last two and need a win badly.

G.S. have been at least playing hard and even though they are playing b2b Washington is very poor defensive team and G.S. should be able to stay close and get the win on thier home court.

          2* LSU women -5
Louisiana St., I am told, is the best team in the women's tournament, and they are a steamroller. They are 30-3 on the season, with only two of the wins by less than the current number of five. Those wins were both on the road against better teams than Stanford. They won by 3 at Tennessee (#2 seed) and by 1 at Georgia (#3 seed that lost to UCONN on buzzer beater last night).
LSU has won 26 games by double digits this season, and is against top 25 teams. On the other hand, Stanford has won only 4 of 9 games against top 25 opposition. The Cardinal is overvalued as a result of their incredible performance against Oklahoma, which saw Stanford make 8 of 9 threes early, and Oklahoma's star big (wo)man pick up three early fouls.

          1* Utah +9.5 vs. Maryland
The Utes are a good defensive team that features several Canadian players that have experience, and they are playing in a familiar place, the Pit in Albuquerque. Maryland is a young team that may struggle in this pressure-packed game.

Sounds like a virtual lock on the LSU women. I'm following Razz on this one. Thanks in advance.

NBA guys, can you give me opinions on these?

NOK @ Jazz Under 187.5 - Total has moved 3 or 4 points to the over, and I think the Hornets are really going to struggle to score tonight, off a B2B against the Lakers, and they won't be trying to push the tempo as much. The Jazz are also fine with playing a slow-paced game.

Washington +1 @ Golden St. - Seems like a very similar situation to when Washington went into Utah and beat a Jazz team off an upset win over the Suns. The Warriors are off that win over the Kings, and, as they say, no team is as good or bad as they looked last time out. Arenas is a guy that carries a chip on his shoulder, and I think he could go wild against the mediocre defensive team that he used to play for. Plus, the favorite has been reversed.

Thinking about playing 1, but not quite convinced enough at the current time. Thoughts and/or suggestions would be nice.

I think GS should be favored in the game by a meaningful number -- so, from a value standpoint, I think you are getting shortchanged with the Wizards.

                BUT ---
it's hard to argue with your instincts about the rhythm involved here. SAC extends itself to get a win on the road at UTH, and they are vulnerable at home the next night against rested GS. GS extends itself to get a win on the road at SAC, and they are vulnerable at home the next night against rested WAS. Nets extend themselves to get a huge road win at DET, and are vulnerable the next night at home against PHX. And on and on.

I like that UTH under. Some totals lately have me scratching my head as to why so high, including the 205 last night at SAC and the 209 the night before at LAC. I like this under, and the total isn't so high as to make me suspicious.

Also, the world should know that Razz's "leans" for Sunday's NBA, which were not posted, went 4-1. So while Razz may not play both of these, maybe the rest of us should.

I know about 12 guys that like GS today. Weird? Public all over
GS. Kinda makes me want to take Wizards. Just have a weird feeling
                    Washington wins?

Well, at least that wasn't unlucky.

                        Make a damn shot LSU.

                          Recap

I took the Jazz last night under 183. It shoots up to 187 and lands on 184. ****
Covered the play with Jazz -6 in second half.

As for the b2b situations in all four games. Didn't seem to bother N.J. or Indiana who lost but still covered. N.O. has been losing with or without rest...as I type GS is getting whipped by Washington but that could have happened even if GS was rested.

Moral of the story is the b2b factor might be over rated. These guys are world class atheletes and can perform at a high level two nights in a row. Motivation and moral will over come fatigue.
