Am I missing something? Lakers are +2 heading to Boston. True Boston won a close one earlier this year but with Peirce scoring 39 and snatching 7 boards during his hot streak which is now over. Without Ricky Davis, can they really compete? Blount is gone inside to slow the drives of Odom, Bryant and Parker. Can someone shine some light on this game for me? Thanks

The line makes complete sense at the most basic level:

Celtics are 5 games over .500 at home (58%).

Lakers are five games under .500 on the road (43%).

In that vaccuum, Celtics win the game 57-58% of the time.

Very few games are decided by 1 point -- a move from pick to +/- 2 is no big deal.

    Lakers are off a BTB.

At worst, Celtics should be 3.5 to 4 point favs, IMO. And they would be, I believe, were they playing non-public team with a losing road record off a BTB.

By the way, love the screen name.
    Big Todd Day fan?

i understand the line. i think jay nailed it with his comments, although, the line is also lower that it probly sure be. the reason being the lakers are in the playoff hunt, and the celtics are not.

Jay Edgar, Thanks for the advice. I actually played with Todd Day once or twice on the playground. Or should I say I tried. Killed me when he got traded but still a fan when he was in Toronto. Thanks again.

I had the Celtics and it looks like the Lakers are gonna get this one. Congrats Lakers backers.

Nice call. I'm very hesitant to fade people who bet against their favorite team.

It was a nice call. Although I grew up there, haven't followed the Celtics more closely than other teams for a long time. The Lakers are a legitimate threat to win every time out on the floor. Nice going -- hope we didn't talk you out of all of it.

I have been out of step with the Lakers since the Allstar break. I really ****** this one up...never should have backed Celtics coming of that OT win at Indiana....oh yea...Celtics are punks...forgot about that too.
