I don't understand why the mods would delete a thread because of what someone other than the post originator wrote. Why not just ban the person who wrote the objectionable content? Why punish everyone?

Is lakerboy and lyons no longer allowed to post or are they simply taking a break? What a weird situation...

i think the mods provide an excellent service (and for FREE to boot)

i am surprised that i have read unappreciative comments regarding their activities..

and for what they provide (and ask in return) people should be more observant
of what is graciously provided..

there are other forums, but they blow. i have no complaints

Why are you even talking? You're one of the biggest trolls in SBR, trolling LB's threads posting your plays in his thread and talking crap. You and all the other trolls responsible for the BS that goes on in SBR should be banned not people who actually contribute.

no, no, not all bullshit. And not all trolls are "plants" from the books. What people (Lakerboy, me) get tired of is the double standards and the inconsistency in moderating. If we retailaite, lash out at a poster/troll we are banned or threatned with post review... Or in LB's case what he did in "PACO"S thread one nite is what happened in his thread continually and LB was banned and put on post review for a month. Is that not crazy? Does that not seem like a double standard here? We asked to get the repeat violaters out of the thread. But were told by a MOD that they didn't have time to deal with crapola?? Funny thing is they always had time to moderate "OUR" crapola. But never the time to deal with unprovoked crapola. hmmmmm.

We have been notified that we can start another thread. But what would they say? No! It's in SBR's best interest to say we can than we are the bad guys for not following thru and doing another thread. The truth is it is a game of discouragement. The people calling the shots know if they discourage you long enough you will go away. That's the bottomline. If you don't know for what the reasons are then I can't help you.

Last, but not least I can't stress enough following Sweetjones55 in the NBA subforum. If you haven't been you are either ignorant or do not like money. He is hitting a 60% clip over the last 2 seasons and post plays well in advance of games with very detailed writeups. Guy knows his NBA and works his ass off. You can learn alot from his writeups alone for some of the things you need to know/cover when capping your own games.Best of Luck.

The forum needs an invite only feature, where people would only be allowed to post if they were invited by the thread starter. Anyone can browse but not post. Seems like a simple tool, they need to get the programmers on it.

This is stupid... 3-4 days now and the one thing I miss among the many things I miss about that thread is the fact that there was good honest basketball discussion... I liked JR posting insight from around the web, Lyons/LB offering picks / offering opinions on lines... I still enjoy the other threads on here, but that was the place to talk basketball.. until we stopped talking basketball... Mods shutting it down and saying that "They can start up another one" is wrong... Why don't you just restart the same one... that's what the people want, why not just give it to them.

Whatever I guess... Mods have a right to do whatever they want, and guys like me who wanted to make a home here after a couple thousand posts will do what we want as well, and if that means we eventually move on to better things... so be it... Covers.com... statfox... may not be as big, but they still have smaller, quality threads which I already follow and some quality people on here have diverted too...

SBR maybe the biggest forum, but without understanding some of these moves that at least on the surface make little sense, like shutting down a forum due to some bickering... SBR is slowly losing my interest, because it's just a matter of time before every troll has his own thread of uselessness... It's only been a short 6 month cycle for me, but I've seen quite a bit to start making judgement, perceived or reality??

SBR can create their "SBR POINT" program and push their poker software all night long, but like demons said, you can't kick kick people out of your forum??? Clearly thats the next step if SBR wants to move into the next level of forum management. Maybe that means posters with 10,000k posts can only start a thread with "rights"... maybe 20,000 ... Maybe it's based on popularity (50 k views when the haters and trolls start appearing)... Mods are all worried about "Crapola" but why can't they shift some of the responsibility to the Thread holder... and they just oversee that?

"Rghts" can include Thread owners banning... warning... or even simpler, the availablity of preventing "<250" posters/ghosts to post until they are proven quality members... there are alot of possibilities

I'm not claiming I know anything about this program or SBR History.. was it better before, was it worse.. i don't know... I just have a small sample to build on.. 6 months... and I appreciate the Mods volunteer efforts in being here... but my bottom line is I know what I see and SBR for me is in a qualitative content recession and getting worse... and I hope they figure out how to kickstart it...
