    Point Spread to Odds Conversion
Is there any rough formula that people use for converting a point spread into an odds line?

I'm getting tired of losing games against the spread late in garbage time or because the stars got pulled early. I think I'd rather just bet the team to win and lay odds, but I don't know how to make an estimate of the proper conversion.

Thanks. That will be a great start, but it doesn't work at the the extremes.

On rare occasions, IMO the best teams can actually be a 14-15 point favorite against the worst teams even though the point spreads will be smaller (most likely because of garbage time considerations or other things)

That model says that if a team is a 14 point favorite it has 102.35% chance of winning. The value of each incremental point must diminish as the spread increases and slowly approaches 100%.
