hey fellas what's up got my first article in today on basketball for sbr so go check out i'll post for homies here
ANAHEIM, Calif-The Honda Center will be rocking as Uconn does battle with San Diego State in a sweet sixteen matchup between two teams that were seriously underestimated at the start of the season. The two teams are lead by battle tested floor generals in Jim Calhoun for Uconn, and Fisher for S.D. state. The two coaches are old friends and both have been in this spot before! Calhoun has guided UConn to it's 16th appearance in the sweet16 round, were as Fisher to guided Michigan and the fab five 22 years ago to a national title shot. The big advantage tonight will be the home court feel the Aztecs will have with there fans only being a hour drive down the interstate from where they call home, and add the fact that UConn had to fly across the country to get here and had a tough big east tourney(5games in 5days)exhaustion might finally catch up to them some experts think. Coach Calhoun thinks different and said in a press conference "They have the most resilience of any team I've ever coached. We're playing the best basketball right now, and everything that could happen good, has happened good."


UConn comes in lead by sniper Kemba Walker who is avg. 23.5 pts and 17 assists in both tourney games so far and has put the huskies on his back all season long ,until the freshmen that surround him could catch up with Big East play and a demanding coach like Jim Calhoun. The freshmen and Walker peaked at the right time winning five games in five days to capture the Big East tournament and come into today as one of the hottest teams in the country. As for being tired they looked anything but that in the 1st two tourney games killing Bucknell 81-52 and smacking Cincinnati 69-58. Uconn comes in

The big factor today for UConn to compete with the Aztecs dominate front line will be Alex Oriakhi a 6-foot-9 sophomore forward, who has averaged double double's when the Huskies have gone up against the elite of college basketball(Texas ect.). He know's that he has to perform tonight or the Huskies wont be able to compete with the front three of the Aztecs(Hall,Leonard,M.Thomas) he said,"I know I am the key and a lot of responsibility is placed on me for good reason. I know I’m a good player. They wouldn’t put the responsibility on me if they didn’t think I could handle it." So far he has pulling down 11 rebounds against the Bearcats. The other player that i think will have a big night is freshman guard Jeremy Lamb who as emerged in the 2half of the season and has 7 straight games scoring double figures! UConn is holding opponents to 40% percent shooting, and had a rebounding edge of +4.8 a game and they where 2nd in the big east in rebounding.

The Aztecs come into the game with one of the nation’s top frontcourts in Kawhi Leonard (15.6 points, 10.6 rebounds), Malcolm Thomas (11.4, 8.1) and Billy White (10.1 points). Leonard and Thomas have combined to avg 18.7 reb a game and the team as a whole is a +6.7 in rebounding for the year. SDSU avg.'s 72ppg on 47%fg on offense and has six players that avg.between 7pts to 16pts a game. On the defense side of the ball they hold oppents to 59ppg. and 39%fg. SDSU ranks 35th in shooting (47%fg percent), 12th in field goal percentage defense (39fg%) and that reb margin of +6.9 is good for 12th in the country. Now D.J Gay a Senior pg who avgs. 11.0 points, 3.2 assists and plays great defense will presure Uconn"s pg all day with the harrasing style of defense he plays and has only turned over the ball once in his last three outings while dishing out 10 assists.

The game is at 7:15 p.m.ET,CBS and the point spread opened up with SDSU as a -1 pt favorite but with 71% of the public on uconn it has moved to UConn -1 at the moment (10am est),and as for the o/u it opened at 128.5 and has not moved even with 86% (10am est)of the public's money on the over. Now as for a pick i like the Huskies and Kemba and Alex Oriakhi to play well enough up front and pull out a win in a close game that goes down to the last shoot and take the over 128.5! good luck!!!

You don't think SDSU will be up for this game against UCONN? UCONN lost to several teams this year that they should have beaten. Don't take that game against Temple with too much grain. These Aztecs are ready to play and they will outmatch Kemba and the Huskies all day long. SDSU wins by 12.
