Spurs @ Clippers: The Right Play
    NBA Tonight: Spurs @ Clippers

    11/01/10 – pokerwhiz90

With 77% of the bets currently placed on the Spurs to cover the spread, the Spurs should be seen as a moderate favorite while they will play in the staples center tonight. The (1-1) Spurs will be more than enough to handle as the Clippers face the fourth consecutive opponent that has them completely outmatched

The Clippers have lost 16 straight against the Spurs, 8 games in Los Angeles, and have opened (0-3) to start the 2010-11 NBA season. The two previous seasons, the Clippers have started similarly at 0-4. However, there is some hope for the Clippers out there. His name is Blake Griffin and he will be playing against an inexperienced DeJaun Blair and an ancient Tim Duncan.

Blake Griffin missed all of last season with a season ending knee injury but has looked very healthy thus far. Although Griffin just missed his 3rd consecutive double-double, the rest of the team has looked terrible. They are the worst shooting team in the NBA at 37.7% and under new head coach Vinny Del Negro, the Clippers haven’t shown considerable improvement from last year.

The common theme between the Blazers, Warriors and Mavericks is the strong play in the paint. Marcus Camby, David Lee and Dirk are just a class above rookie Blake Griffin and the Spurs’ hall of famer will be Griffin’s hardest test yet.

The Clippers are 30th in the league in scoring, allowing more than 100 points per game. The Spurs are averaging 106 points and allowing a similar number of points as well.

Off the court, Tony Parker has signed an extension and Clippers point guard Randy Foye is out with a hamstring injury.

This game is a matchup nightmare for the Clippers as a healthy Spurs team is fresh and predominantly a great team in October/November.

    The Play: Spurs -7

If you aren’t convinced yet, tell me one person on the Clippers’ bench. The lack of depth will result in a double digit loss to the playoff bound Spurs.

Spurs had terrible shooting percentages at the loss by Hornets. They are going to improve today... And Clippers will be better than yesterday...

Clippers +7.5 is the right play in my opinion. But to be even safer why not take them +10.5 @ approx 1.62. That by far is the best value bet in todays games.

Clips b2b last night at Dallas may have tired out Kaman
                            they still lost by 16
welcome to the NBA Blake Griffin

Yeah man, the more insight the better regardless of whether people agree or not. Personally I like the Spurs here as well and perhaps it was because I was looking to agree with you or whatever, but I thought your write-up was solid.

the bottom line is the clippers are avg 37%... your going to get blown out in any game when your opponent even shoots 44% or above and the quality of bench players is completely off the charts

when the starters are on the bench, theyre are continously going to increase their lead, even if its 2 pts per a quarter

Any arguments derived from a team's stats after 2 games are completely worthless. Not saying the Spurs won't win, but much of the logic behind the OP's writeup is faulty. I would personally lean towards the Clippers myself...

the clippers have the talent to compete against anyone. they obviously won't lose every game but if you back them you just never know what night they give a shit. they are a losing franchise and are very few scenarios when they are cover more than not. would rather find my spots to go against them than on them.

I wonder when the clippers will be able to put all their talent together.

blake griffin is overhyped. his game is a lot more amare than dwight. in Fantasy that might not be too much, but in real life dwight is always an mvp candidate, and amare is always a liability on def and reb. how many blocks he got so far?
