The Dallas Mavericks are heating up, especially at home where they are 16-3. Tonight they match up with the Detroit Pistons at home. The general public is expecting a Detroit to win as a dog, but when I see the public take Dogs, I tend to take Favs in those situations.

Phoenix Suns under 225 A high over for high scoring teams but they looked tired and a bit roughed up after the other night with the Nuggets in that scoring eruption.

SEATTLE SONICS +8: The Nets had won five in a row before their 16-point loss in Charlotte last night, but they are still just 8-11 SU and 7-11-1 ATS at home. Furthermore, despite their winning streak, they have still gone 16 consecutive games without winning by more than eight points, with only one win in this streak being by exactly eight! In other words, they would be 0-15-1 ATS vs. this posted line. (This line has actually moved to 8½, so make that 0-16!)

MIAMI HEAT +4½: Yes Miami blows chunks, but Milwaukee is just 6-8 ATS at home, and they are actually being slightly outscored by an average of -0.4 points per game in their own building. Not surprisingly, they are a dismal 1-7 ATS as a favorite this season. I just don’t trust them laying any points.

UMass -4: Shit line, but I'd play UMass up to -6 in this spot. The Minutemen have developed a very strong home court under Travis Ford, and St. Joe's lack of depth will make it difficult for the Hawks to play at UMass' pace for 40 min. UMass' athleticism is a significant edge, Nivins, who's prone to foul trouble, will have to run back on transition defense all night, and Calathes will also have to work on the defensive end, which should diminish his effectiveness offensively. UMass' guard play will be the difference in the second half as Martelli's squad starts to tire.

Warriors/Blazers OVER 208: What can I say... I'm a sucker for low GS totals, and since I have no strong opinion on anything on tonight's card other than UMass and this contest calls for 2 plays, this will have to due. Each of GS's last four have sailed comfortably over tonight's number, and a rested Blazers team may be willing to relent and play at the Warriors' pace.

Char/Bos under 189.5 - This total is cutting it close, I admit, but I don't see this one as getting too intense. Charlotte won't have the energy to make things happen, and Bos won't be motivated to run up the score, so I see this one as more likely to stay under than not.
