I like me some over in this game tonight!! This line is dropping like a rock. now at 186 or 185.5 at some. On 5 dimes you can find it at 183.5 if you want to pay some extra juice. It was 188.5 last night and as it became known that Perkins was definitely out, the line started free falling. Since when did Perkins presence help the over happen? He is the glue to the Celtics defense in the middle, much in the same way Bynum clogs the middle for the Lakers. W/out Perk in there the Lakers can be much more aggressive in taking it to the hole. Attack Rasheed and put him on the bench early w/2fouls then the middle becomes a lay up line. Celts will try baby in the middle if Sheed gets in trouble but that is great for Gasol. God forbid if Williams or Scalabrine needs to spend any significant time on the floor.. Bynum is limited and this is good for the C's offense as well. I think the Celtics will push the tempo and try to not let LA get set up in defense at all. That has been when the Celtics have been most effective and IMO. the only way the Celtics hang tonight. It didn't show last game,(none of the c's came with anything) but if Bynum is hobbled in any way, the c's can attack the hoop much like it will be w/out Perk.
I have a theory about ultimate games in hoops. Far more chances are taken on defense leading to a few more steals as well as a few more fast breaks for both teams. Even in the NBA there is likely to be more fouling at the end of a game if it is a 5-8 points game in the last minute. it has served me well in the past, hopefully it serves me well tonight.
