Willy, he is a very good player. That however was arguably the biggest game of his life and he came up less than empty. The true greats of the game always shine the brightest when it means the most. Tonite was a big game, but his play and effort was one of the worst, if not the worst I can remmeber from a player of his magnitude. He is the leader of that team when everything is going well no doubt, but his leadership disappears when he faces adversity like he did tonite. Even his press conference was like ho-hum,, just another game like attitude. You play the whole season for moments like tonite. Nobody cares right now what you did Novemeber-March. Now, is the moment. Now is the time. Lebron didn't seem to upset or worried about his performance or his teams. It seems when he plays grat his team plays great. When he disappears his team follows as well.

I agree with you, Lyon. As great a player as Lebron is, you can't put him in the same class with the Jordans, Kobes, Magics, Birds, any of those guys... he has not delivered when it counts. He hasn't even made an NBA Finals yet!

We kept hearing about how he didn't have the supporting cast, etc., but then they finally got him a nice cast.

Honestly, I don't know who is most to blame here though... I mean the whole team, aside from Shaq and Varijao, were just DOA in that game. I'm sorry, but I think maybe Mike Brown is just no good. I mean, Doc Rivers is a fukkin COACH, Man, that has been proven over and over. I don't think Mike Brown is finding the right match-ups, and I also don't think he's getting the urgency across to his players nearly enough.

Anyway, congrats to you Knick fans!! (Actually, though, this series isn't over... I want it to be, but we got another game to win.)

Great post. Doc Rivers is a better coach. Rivers was a player and understands the game. Mike Brown is a video coordinator that was brought in to be Lebron's daddy.

The series is concluded Capy.. There is another game left, but teams don't recover from an ambarrasing game 5 loss on ther home court and go on the road and force a game 7. It doesn't work that way. You can cellebrate advancing to the conference Finals

Correction... He took a much worse Cav's team to the NBA finals several years ago. They got swept by the Spurs though.

I still think his supporting cast sucks. He has no other elite player but an aging Shaq. Your not going to win a title with NoShowMo Williams and Anthony Parker as your starting front court.

I stand corrected, Mac -- when I wrote that, I had a nagging feeling I was forgetting something.

Agreed, the cast has played disappointingly. The more I think about it, though, this has to fall at Mike Brown's feet. The guy is getting seriously outcoached by the underrated Doc Rivers and defensive coach Tom Thibodeau (an unsung Celtics hero who WILL be a head coach soon).

Thanks, Lyon, but you're definitely putting the cart before the horse. The Celts took Game 2 in Cleveland and Cleveland promptly walked in and schooled us in Game 3. I think this Game 6 is going to be amazing -- it will be SO intense! The Celts KNOW they have to win it HERE and NOW. But James has got to be seething about that performance tonight. No way the guy gets to sleep tonight.

You gotta like the C's though, because Pierce was awakened tonight, KG is getting healthier by the moment, Ray is Ray, Rondo is Rondo, and I think there's too much big-game experience on the Celtics. I think Mac4Lyfe is right -- this supporting cast for the Cavs is underperforming... It'll take a Herculean effort by Lebron. But he's capable.

Think this is the biggest difference between the contenders and pretenders this year. If Kobe or Dwight don't show up they still have more than one other guy who can carry them (Jameer Nelson, Pau Gasol, Vince Carte, etc.). Even the Celtics and suns are pretty well balanced.

I think the fact that we saw a burst of energy from him in this game that lasted all of 6 seconds pretty much sealed the deal for me. Stats are stats but it if you can't even pretend to care in game 5 at home then there's something wrong with you. Whether it's mentally or physically, I don't care. You've got issues and they need to be sorted before you should ever been even considered a champion, let alone be one. Any of the true champions this game has seen would've been SCREAMING at their teammates to get it together. He would've inspired them, motivated them and led by example and fought to the death trying.

I'm no Kobe fan by any means but you can never say he doesn't have heart. He may not seem to care every game but you know he'll damn well stand up and deliver when it matters most.

You're right though Kobe would've been doing that god-aweful "I wanna gnaw on some cheese" mean mugging face he always does when he makes a big shot.

But yeah something is up with Lebron, I'm just not sure what.

thats the problem with the cavs, they are almost 100% lebron dependant. if he has a bad game, they are gonna lose, and in the playoffs against an elite team, they get blown out. i think lebron leads his team in every single category for the playoffs. its just not good for one guy to do so much. i dont think i can remember where one superstar on a team ended up winning a title.

You're right the only close one I can even remember was Miami with Dwayde, but Shaq was still dominant enough to be a factor and carry a lot of the load.
