Why do so many people like Denver tonight?

Utah has proven that they are the superior team. The nuggets have been overrated for the last 2 and a half months. I've been saying it for a while now... this team peaked when they went into L.A. in early Feb. Since then, Billups has aged, Martin has had injuries, and Anthony has had to try and carry this team - something he simply can't do. Of course the very unfortunate case of George Karl has hurt as well.

I just think we need to be realistic here. There's a reason Denver has lost the last 3: they're not that good.

Agree with the above post, everyone is thinking it will be just like Dallas or L.A or even Atlanta. Only one problem, none of those teams has won a road playoff game this season .... Utah has. Much different animal, I like the Jazz too.

Denver's problem has always been a lack of motivation. Karl is a master at bending them to his will, and so their run with Dantley has been subpar to say the least... However, facing elimination after losing three in a row is a pretty solid motivating factor. If you've watched the games in this series you saw that there was a distinct laziness in Denver's play. Look at the Lakers play in Games 3 & 4 compared to Game 5. It's the exact same scenario, with a different outcome in Game 2. Look at the Hawks game that's going on right now as another example. Hawks got beaten down in the last two games, but would you know it from their play today?

I get what you're saying but something just feels different about the Den-Utah series to me. I think the lakers stand by themselves and shouldn't really be used for comparison. Like Barkley said last night, they're always on "cruise control."

I wasn't really surprised to see the hawks lose in milwaukee. This is huge for the bucks and that city to be back on the rise again so i kinda expected the bucks to win those two games. We know that atlanta is the better team and will win this series so i also think this isn't a good comparison.

With denver and utah, we have two seemingly very evenly-matched teams. However, for anyone who has watched the nba this season, particularly over the last couple months, you will know that denver isn't the same team they were in the first half of the season or late in the year last season. Like i said, billups is done. He was their most valuable player but his age is really showing right now. Melo lets too many things bother him and acts like a child on the court. His frustration is always showing and i think we're really seeing that right now. He's frustrated because he knows his team is getting outplayed and there is nothing he or anyone else can do about it.

I didn't really understand the spread either but I did take Denver because I just thought that there talent would finally come through. It did last night.. very surprising considering they basically have a player coach in Billups.

Well said, Kobe et al with the Lakers can be infuriating but I have often been taking them when it matters because what they do is win championships. Kobe's post-game comments came across totally arrogant but he was simply stating some facts. Cheers
