Of course they limit winning players, they're a bookmaker. Pinnacle are the only one I know that doesn't.

Who says he's a winning player? They're a bookmaker. Bookmakers limit winning players dopey.

Well that's not a very good analogy if there are cars that fly

Pinnacle not the only one that doesn't limit winning players. bookmaker.eu does not either. Same with lot of the asians. Also most of the bitcoin only books can't limit if they allow anonymous accounts

There's literally hundreds of online bookmakers and - with the exception of 1 or 2 American books - imposing betting limits is intrinsic to their business model, so it seems like a daft comment to me.

I don't know about betting in Asia. What part of Asia are we talking?

SBOBet, IBC, Singbet, there are lots others. They use a totally different system there though.

You mean the same system as Pinnacle & Bookmaker?

Just looking at the intro for SingBet:
Singbet is one of the biggest Asian bookmakers by far

What the hell does that mean? Can't use a relative quantifier and an abstract grouping together :P

IBC is a betting agent. Never heard of that before. WTF do I need a middle man?

Lol no. All bets are done through agents/brokers. Most don't even have a front end website.

Pinnacle does use agents too though so you're half right :P

If Singbet is such a big bookmaker why can't they get their own website?

I can't bet with them anyway (in UK) but if I was to it would seem like just another party - the agent - that could rip me off!

That's just how they've always done it over there... To answer your next question of WHY, it's just a matter of overhead. Bookies pay affiliate fees to websites, marketing managers, other costs. They have loads and loads of banking charges, not to mention everybody's favourite- customer service

With the agent/broker model, they have someone finding customers for them and they don't even have to pay them if its position taking. IBC employs around 100 people total, do 50 billion in turnover and profits 0.66% (300 million) (those numbers are a few years old, don't quote me), and they don't have to deal with any of the headaches that the traditional bookmakers do.

Of course anyone could rip you off but that's true for the bookies as well. It's why we have ratings and sites such as these. So you obviously find agents with a good reputation and in a sense, it's no different than finding a good bookie.

Also, agents give you access to all the asians (well the big ones anyway), so that's sbo, ibc, singbet, dafabet, etc. plus you get pinnacle and matchbook too. Well the good ones, anyway.

Despite my name, I'm actually not really an expert on this topic. I just know some stuff

I understand the reasoning. Several UK books have merged in recent years because of the marketing costs (Betfair/ PaddyP, SJames/ Unibet).
