What you're seeing are the number of bets, without any information about the size of those bets... You can get a sense of how much total money is on each side from line movement, but if you actually had access to the dollar amounts bet on each side along with how the books are reacting when money is placed on each side, you'd be able to put them out of business...

Not when you're talking about a range of bettors laying $20 / $200 / $2000 on a game... I'm not saying the money always balances, but the betting percentages don't tell the whole story.

And "common sense" is the books' bread and butter...
