    Congrats to Don Nelson
He just passed Lenny Wilkens for most wins by a head coach in NBA history.

    http://www.cbssports.com/nba/gamecenter/recap/NBA_20100407_GS@MIN

Kind of interesting that both guys were compilers and never had much playoff success. Wilkens coached the Sonics to a title in the '70s, but his teams went nowhere after that.

I guess the coaches who win titles just don't coach long enough.

    Nelson: 1,333-1,061
    Wilkens: 1,332-1,155

Interestingly, no players from the opposing team came up to congratulate him, nor did the coach of the Wolves. Sadly this was accomplished in Minnesota, where fans don't even realize they have a basketball team.

Yea those guys can stay around, because throughout their careers they felt no stress.

Stress is only felt when you have to meet high expectations. Neither of those guys had much expected of their teams, many of the years they coached.

Really not impressed with either guys records, especially since they stuck around just to break the record. Winning many meaningless games.

Wilkens, still has the "losingest" record. But the way things are in Golden State, Nelly will threaten to take that soon.

he had a long playing career and was a starter (and sometimes 6th man) on some of those great celtic teams. I liked him a lot as a player -- most of you are too young to have seen him play.

don nelson is a scumbag... **** him, especially in recent yrs, how someone can hold back talents like Anthony Randolph and Brandan Wright who have been highly productive when they play is beyond me, he has alienated his best players, basically laughing at Monta Ellis any time Monta wants to take a more active leadership role and he shit on Biedrins recently too. Golden State has talent but they need to make a complete overhaul, coach, gm and owner... its tragic because they have a great fan base too they deserve much a better product than theyve gotten
