How do I calculate home court advantage?

I've always used 3 points, but lately I've been questioning that. How should I calculate the advantage?

Compare the points scored and allowed at home vs. the road?

Compare points scored and allowed against the same opponent at home vs. the road?

Should the advantage be different for each arena?

Or should I just continue to use 3 and shuddup?

Home court, better team, point spread, revenge factor, how each team has been doing recently, of course injuries, and this time of year who's "resting". Add it all up and then throw darts. LOL. Only kidding on last part. I mean you look at tonight, GS theoretically should blow out Utah right??? But who will be sitting, a little revenge I hear for GS, GS at home , GS best team in the league, superior depth, only one guy missing, Utah is lucky to hit 85 PPG lately and GS has not gone under 100 PPG at home since who knows when. Seems like a no brainer doesn't it??? But being the NBA... Here is where the darts come in. LOL. BOL in your selections.

I like doing this when I can't figure it out

    EXAMPLE:
    CHI V DET

CHI's points allowed + points forced then divide by two. = 99.8

DET points allowed + points forced then divide by two. = 98.75

Then consider your home court advantage ( 2.5, 3 pts )

So take that +3 to the DET and it equals 101.75 to 99.8 and with DET being a three point home dog tonight, that looks like a good bet.

Although I am on Chi -3 for a bill tonight.

This doesn't mean you will win.

Its usually a 8 point swing..so four points

but there are other factors...team playing 3rd game in 4 nights, 5th in 7 nights
if a team is rested and the other is playing a back to back...etc
