It isn't for sure if he has quit yet or not read the article on ESPN he is stated as saying he has not thought about it yet and hasn't made up his mind. He states he does not know where the reports have come from he hasn't had a chance to think about it yet, because all he has been working on the past couple of weeks is getting the team ready to win in the postseason.

Or... he felt his team would have a great playoff run and he could leverage for more money later. This is a common tactic for coaches and players in all team sports. Reject the extensions, have some more success, get a better deal from other teams and use it to drive up the price from your own team.
It's just good business, usually.

I think the Rockets Brass quit on him more than the other
way around. I believe they told him to quit or they would
fire him.
