Basketball Parlay of the Day - Wednesday, 3/14/07

SBR will give the winner of the March Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest a sparkling new 19-inch LCD DVI Monitor! For those of you unfamiliar with the contest, here are the rules:


Post your 2 best basketball plays each day, NBA and CBB full-game Sides & Totals allowed only, no halves. Same game Side/Total parlays are ok. You have until five minutes before tip time of your first game to post the selections. Also note that all plays will now be graded against a uniform line! I will post the lines from Pinnacle at approximately 11 AM ET each day. Those of you wishing to make selections before then may do so without posting your lines, and they will be graded against my posted lines.

All parlays will be graded as 10.00 to win 26.00, and I will keep two sets of standings: the Official Standings will be based on parlay units won/lost, and the secondary standings will be on a game-by-game basis ranked by winning percentage.

The Catch: You must have SOME ANALYSIS for each play. Only needs to be one sentence, no big deal, although full paragraphs are ok too. Plays submitted with no analysis will NOT COUNT toward standings.

The player with the most units won after the games of March 31 will win the winner-take-all grand prize. Note that you must play at least 15 days (30 plays) during the month to qualify for the prize! In case of a tie in units, the tiebreaker will be the better winning percentage. If still tied, the contest will be extended with the tied players making one parlay selection per day at the start of April until the tie is broken. NO PASSES will be allowed during this extension period, and any of the tied players doing so will be eliminated regardless of the other player(s) results for that day.

Tie breakers:
Will be decided by win % of individual parlay legs. 2nd tiebreaker is based on additional daily parlays until one person breaks tie.

15 parlays must be made in the month.

All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.

SBR will pick a DVI LCD monitor that is features on this page when winner is decided.

Vermont Catamounts vs. Kansas State Wildcats -12 - Kansas State is 12-2 as a favorite against the spread and 4-0 in tournament games. The Big 12 is a tough conference and the competition should carry Kansas State.

South Alabama Jaguars vs. Syracuse Orangemen -13 - Carrier Dome is a tough place to play, especially for a mid-major. South Alabama is backing there way into this game with a four game losing streak. Syracuse did well in the Big East tournament and should be in the Big Dance.

Bulls -2.5: hands down the better team here, handled boston last night by 8 and should have no problem with philly.

As we saw last night the Big 12 "IS WHAT WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!" with ok st losing to marist OUTRIGHT! I am not at all convinced with Kansas st and Vermont is a good team and just got edged in the tournament championship. Vermont has also been to the big dance a couple yrs in a row so they are no fool to playing tough games away from home.
Knicks +7
I'll take my Knickerboxers here tonight +7, with Isaiah getting confirmed to coach another year and the knicks on the uprise I see them putting up a fight tonight against the raptors. The knicks have been playing good basketball lately with a comfortable 4-2ATS in there last 6.

Jazz -4 and Utah/Orl over 194.5 - Utah had a 4 game losing streak in mid-January, but other than that streak hasn't lost back to back games since November. In that 4 game stretch, Ray Allen had a 54 point game and Arenas had a 51 point game against them, i.e. it took sensational individual performances that have little chance of repeating themselves against Orlando. Prior to the Miami game, Jazz had scored over 100 in their previous 6 road games, over looks good here.

Just like NC State lastnight, App State is a scrappy bunch and while I think Ole Miss wins tonight, the mountaineers will keep this one close

Dallas is coming off of a loss and they will score at least 110 points, and the Suns don't hold anyone under 100 very often. Too much firepower for the Mavs.

Vermont/Kansas St under 135.5 - Kansas St prefers a deliberate defense-oriented pace at home vs all comers, and Vermont will be very willing to oblige.

Nice to see this one currently sits at 6.5. I'll go with the steamer here (I wish I would have bet this damn game when I saw it at 2.5 or even when I saw it at 4.

I'll go with the Under of KSt/Vermont. . Not sure if Vermont gets to 60 in this one. Manhattan is a tough place to play and K.St. will bring the defensive intensity. Something like 71-57

Providence/Bradley Under 150: This total seems a tad high considering that all Bradley games are averaging 144.0 points this season, and all Providence contests are averaging 147.1. Bradley has gone Under in three straight games, and the Under is 7-2 in the last nine Bear games overall. Granted the Friars have gone Over three straight times, but only one of those games reached 150 points.

Vermont/Kansas State Under 135.5: The home/away splits for these teams support the Under here, especially on the defensive end. Kansas State is surrendering just 58.8 points per game here at home, where the Wildcats are limiting their opponents to 38.0 percent shooting from the floor. Similarly, Vermont is limiting its road opponents to 39.5 percent shooting while allowing 64.8 points per road contest.
