Basketball Parlay of the Day - Wednesday, 2/14/07
Post your 2 best basketball plays each day, NBA and CBB full-game Sides & Totals allowed only, no halves. Same game Side/Total parlays are ok.

All parlays will be graded as 10.00 to win 26.00, and I will do the standings for the month of February at least.

The Catch: You must have SOME ANALYSIS for each play. Only needs to be one sentence, no big deal, although full paragraphs are ok too. Plays submitted with no analysis will NOT COUNT toward standings.

MISSISSIPPI STATE -4: Mississippi State has been a cash cow this season, going 13-5 ATS overall including an incredible 8-1 ATS here at home. Furthermore that lone ATS home defeat came in a huge letdown spot after a narrow three-point loss to Florida, and there is no such circumstance here. Arkansas is just 1-6 SU on the road, and the Razorbacks are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games overall with the lone cover coming vs. an overrated Alabama team.

UAB-7.5: UAB has underachieved a bit this season while Rice has been a covering machine lately, but we think a correction is in order here. The Blazes are always tough at home, and they are 7-3 here this season while winning by an average of +7.5 points. Conversely Rice is losing its road games by an average of -7.3 points. While those figures are right in line with this spread, we feel that Rice will have a harder time scoring here than usual considering that it is averaging a measly 57.7 points per game on the road while the Blazers are limiting home opponents to 38.8 percent shooting.

      South Carolina +10.5
Betting against Vanderbilt at home is always hazardous to your health, and in fact I will be betting on the Commodores on Saturday when they play the number one team in the country. But, I don't think I'm the only one looking forward to Florida, if you catch my drift. And, even if Vandy doesn't bring a flat effort here, South Carolina is a road team worth playing. They have no home court advantage this season, but they have been playing very well away from home - wins at USC, Baylor, and Mississippi State are impressive, as are 3-point losses at Tennessee and Alabama, and a 6-point loss at Kentucky. They've covered this number in 7 of their last 8 road games, and they'll have the best player on the floor in Tre Kelley, who is capable of either keeping SC in the game, or going on a late spurt and allowing the Gamecocks to backdoor Vandy.

      Washington -3
I'd like to post the -2 that I have, but that really wouldn't be fair. Still, I'm going to keep riding a Washington team that has been very good to me the last couple weeks. This is a game they have had circled for awhile, since losing by 28 in Pullman earlier this season. Now, UW was riddled with injuries at that time, most notably Hawes, who did not play at all, and Pondexter, who was slowed by an ankle injury. Currently, those players are thriving, and UW has been handling all comers recently, winning their last 5 home games by 8, 12, 17, 12, and 11. In fact, I would play UW pk at home against anyone in the country right now. While Wazzou has had a fantastic season (I love how everyone called me nuts a month ago when I said Wazzou was better than North Carolina, and the teams have respectively proven me to be correct), I think it will be easier for them to make the Final 4 - which I think they will - than to win this game.

Wright St -14 vs Cleveland St

Wright St is a very good basketball team that will be in the NCAA tournament. They are 7-2 ATS at home this year. Earlier this year they beat Cleveland St by 11 at Cleveland Sate. In addition to all of this, Cleveland State is a horrible team. Wright St rolls by at least 20!

        Boston College -2 vs Duke

As much as I personally love Duke myself the value on this line is definitely with Boston College. BC is 7-3-1 ATS at home this year. They are currently #1 in the ACC, an exceptional conference in basketball. Oh, and the 14 point loss that Duke handed them earlier this season will definitely make sure that BC is on top of their game. I think it will be a close game overall but BC will finish strong at the end and keep that #1 ranking in the ACC.

o190 @TOR Nets offense can only get better with PG Williams settling in some. NJ shot very poorly last night. TOR is tough at home. If Nets can get to 90 and Raps play to form, it's an over.

u211 @ IND Griz are consistently under 100 on road. Blowout by struggling Pacers not so likely.

            parlay 2/14

Marquette +2.5 @ DePaul- This is a Marquette team that beat Duke, UConn and Pitt on the road. They've been erratic at times,(not only the Gtown game where they were completely dominated , but poor efforts against Syracuse (@home) and Providence (on the road) where they were never really in the game. Big bounceback game for them here and they're getting 2.5 points??? I'm running with the ML here, but for the purposes of this thread, I'll take them at +2.5.

Kansas -16.5 @ Colorado--Well, Colorado is simply horrible. Roby is a stud and all, but the Buffs just aren't very good. At home, they lost to Air Force (by 38), Wyoming, Pepperdine, Colo St., TX by 24, Mizzou by 14... I could go on and on. Kansas rolls by 20+.

BC -2: Loved this game from the minute I saw the line. BC is a superior team, they are playing at home, and they are looking to avenge an early-season loss to Duke. Tyrese Rice has a big game, nailing at least five 3's. Jared Dudley dominates both inside and out. Eagles win by double figures.

Indiana St. -2.5: This line seems very generous. Indiana St. is very tough on their home floor, as evidenced by an early season win against Butler and solid wins against tough conference opponents Creighton and N. Iowa.

                Duquesne @ Richmond: Over 162.5
Wish I could have got this at 150.5 last night at pinnacle, and I don't like it this high. But, until they show otherwise I'm going to keep hitting duquesne totals, which have gone over 7 straight games by an average of more than 30 pts

Denver Nuggets +4: The Nuggets have won 3 in a row and have been much better on the road than at home. They should win this one too.
