    NASCAR Considering New Points System
    NASCAR is considering scrapping the points system it has used since 1975 in favor of a simpler method that awards points per finishing position. The sanctioning body wants to go to a scoring system that would award 43 points to the race winner, and one point less for each ensuing position down to one point for the 43rd place finisher. There is also some discussions going on about shaking up the chase....nothing in concrete as of now.

      Personally I think there should be more reward for finishing top 10, and winning.

      I bet their real thinking is that it will make the standings closer rather than caring about "simplicity".

                              shouldnt be doing the 1-43 thing on their pts, what about leading laps and most laps and such

                                  Looks like the 43-1 points system is in. You get 1 point for leading a lap and another for leading most laps. 3 points extra for a win. What may effect my gambling the most is the new qualifying rules. The practice speeds will now determine your qualifying order. Will teams sandbag to get a better spot? Be slowest to fastest.

                                                  That's an annoying extra thing to take into consideration. I hope we don't see lots of sandbagging.

                                                  I like the idea of running them slowest to fastest though.

                                                                      Got to thinking on this practice speeds deal and wondered which practice speed counted. Sometimes they have 3 practices before qualifying and sometimes 1 or 2. This is going to be fvcked up.

                                                                              I've been playing ESPN's streak for the cash game for the last few months. If they run their NASCAR game like that one it should be good.

                                                                                                                      I"m in! did the ESPN fantasy a few years ago and was terrible at it but I'll try again.

                                                                                                                      I have a couple other fantasy sites I do, 1 is collectiveracing.com where you rank all 43 drivers and gets points for how close you pick. top pickers get points each week to redeem for older/low value diecasts, etc. Haven't received my diecasts the last 2 years though so basically just playin' for fun.
