    RICHMOND night race--5mike5
Alright fellas, we are off to RICHMOND speedway this weekend for another SATURDAY NIGHT race...and this is the LAST RACE BEFORE THE CHASE for the championship begins and we set the field which is still totally up in the air for 5-6 drivers in or out!!!! going to be all kinds of strategies this week for drivers on the bubble with about 5-6 to still trying to stay inside top 10, crack the top 10, or win a race and get a wild car berth!!!!This is ALWAYS a great and entertaining race imo especially with 5-7 really jocking for chase birth or placement...

ALL 3 nascar top series will be in action this week again, nationwide night race on FRIDAY, CUP race on SATURDAY NIGHT, and the Truck series will be racing from Iowa on Sunday afternoon again this week...

and fellas i have been ON FREAKING FIRE the last month after the terrible streak from mid-june and all of july on the Cup side, but that is ancient history after the this last month in both series and to boot hit my largest nationwide series profit ever last weekend, and topped it off with a BIG HIT on cup race last night!!! so lets ALL keep the momentum going we have built up heading into the chase considering it starts up after this weekend's race!!!!

RICHMOND is a 0.75 mile tr-oval short track speedway....the banling in all of the corners is 14 degress, and is also 14 degrees of banking down the frontstretch but then tails off to just a basically flat 2 degrees on the backstretch...the front is 1,290 feet long, and the back is only 860 ft long....

this is always a very exciting race and especially with all the chase implications and the last chance for many drivers to put themselves in the chase, and scared drivers trying to cling to their positions between 8th and wildcard ..

THIS IS GOING TO BE A WILD NIGHT ON THE SHORT TRACK FOR ALL THE CHASE MARBLES BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as always thoughts/opinions/leans asre always welcomed and encourages from all out great weekly thread contributors...we all would win all the time without us all, helping each other with crucial information and opinions...and thanks because alot of people appreciate it even if they dont come in the thread and say it!

GOODLUCK this weekend everybody and lets HIT'EM BIG AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im too lazy to do this cause im too damn busy with hitting all my track/driver notebooks and watching tapes, but if ANYBODY can find a chart of who needs what to get in the chase or lose their spot in the top 10..or maybe even knows all the scenarios post them if u have time....even post any senarios u know of

im guessing 4-5 guys can race their way in or out, and not sure if any1 that wins the race could vauly themselves intyo a wil-card spot either...if kahne is in the top 10 lets say, that could open up evem more possibilities? whoever gets wild card could mean even 2-3 drivers trying to make top 10 for points!

dont have to explain everything, im sure we will hear about every single senario all week, but would like to know the specifics...

this may have a HUGE impact on how we bet race winners and even H2H matchups, finishing position, ect..

GOING TO BE A WILD AND EXCITING WEEKEND BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Four drivers control their top-10 clinching destiny, regardless of the finishes of any other driver.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., currently seventh in points, will clinch a top-10 spot with a finish of 32nd or better, 33rd with at least one lap led or 34th with the most laps led.

Joey Logano, currently eighth in points, will clinch a top-10 spot with a finish of 11th or better, 12th and at least one lap led or 13th and the most laps led.

Greg Biffle, currently ninth in points, will clinch a top-10 spot with a finish of ninth or better, 10th and at least one lap led or 11th and the most laps led.

Kurt Busch, currently 10th in points, will clinch a top-10 spot by winning, finishing second with at least one lap led or finishing third with the most laps led.

The remaining mathematically eligible drivers need help to clinch a top-10 spot. Some, however, control their own Wild Card destiny (a win would guarantee at least a Wild Card spot).

Clinch scenarios for the remaining eligible drivers:

Jeff Gordon: Currently 11th in points, Gordon would clinch at least a Wild Card spot with a victory at Richmond. Gordon, currently six points outside the top 10, remains eligible for a top 10 spot.

Kasey Kahne: Kahne, currently 12th in points, has already clinched at least a Wild Card spot. Ten points outside the top 10, Kahne remains eligible for a top 10 spot.

Martin Truex Jr.: Currently 13th in points, Truex would clinch at least a Wild Card spot with a victory at Richmond. Fifteen points outside the top 10, Truex remains eligible for a top 10 spot. Truex, currently holding the provisional No. 2 Wild Card spot, could clinch a Wild Card spot without a victory.

Ryan Newman: Currently 14th in points, Newman would clinch at least a Wild Card spot with a victory at Richmond. Twenty points outside the top 10, Newman remains eligible for a top 10 spot. Newman could clinch a Wild Card spot without a win (Logano and Biffle must remain in the top 10 or be replaced by Kahne; Newman must out-point Truex by six points; Gordon must not win; and Brad Keselowski or Jamie McMurray cannot win and overtake Newman).

Brad Keselowski: Currently 28 points outside the top 10, Keselowski remains eligible for a top-10 spot. Currently winless, Keselowski must win to be in contention for a Wild Card spot. Mathematically there will be at least two drivers outside the top 10 with wins. To clinch, Keselowski would need to win and outpoint Truex by 13 and Newman by eight (and would only need to outpoint one of these drivers if Kahne would displace a winless driver from the top 10). If Truex or Newman displaces Kurt Busch from the top 10, he would need to outpoint the other one-win driver remaining outside the top 10 by the requisite amount.

Jamie McMurray: Currently 39 points outside the top 10, McMurray remains eligible for a top-10 spot. Currently winless, McMurray must win to be in contention for a Wild Card spot. To clinch, McMurray would need to win and outpoint either Truex by 25 and Newman by 19 (and would only need to outpoint one of these drivers if Kahne would displace a winless driver from the top 10). If Truex or Newman displace Kurt Busch from the top 10, he would need to outpoint the other one-win driver remaining outside the top 10 by the requisite amount.

Paul Menard: To clinch, Menard would need to win and outpoint Truex by 47 and Newman by 42 (and would only need to outpoint one of these drivers if Kahne would displace a winless driver from the top 10). If Truex or Newman displace Kurt Busch from the top 10, he would need to outpoint the other one-win driver remaining outside the top 10 by the requisite amount.

                        thanks guys....

might have to pay special attention to alot of these for batting purposes this weekend for winner, h2hs, finishing positions, ect ect

i would not pay TOOOO much attention it, but it has to be at least a factor imo

u guys can help me out with this, but i think drivers from 8th to 16th can either fall out of the chase and even down the 15th or 16th if they grabbed a win could get a wild card depending on what others in that range do this weekend...

this is going to be exciting to keep up with all race long!!!!

plus its going to be a very short week to start the racing weekend friday night just 3 days away!!!

Denny was good here many years ago ur right opti.

but Kyle Busch owns this place, but he's got a guy named Clint bowyer right there too. He should ha e won 2 races he didn't and still grabbed a win there last season
