    Champions League T20
Pardon me for being a complete noob; but is anyone getting on the Champions League T20? I worry a bit about the random nature of 20/20 (see: Mumbai losing in opening game), but I'm having a look anyway.

Got some money on Victoria tonight to roll Warriors head to head. Even without White, Hussey and Hodge should stand up in the batting, and their bowling attack is so good that they are going without McGain and Siddle. Warriors did a number on Wayamba, who I thought were going to struggle anyway, so it wasn't too surprising to see them get whacked. Warriors have some decent bowling too, with Ntini and Botha likely being the picks - so there is definitely value in taking the Warriors; I just don't think they will get over the line with their batting (except Ashwell Prince - that guy is a gun).

Should be a cracking match either way, but I'm on Victoria to squeak by.

I thought about it too. Was thinking it's a perfect betting series. Guess that's why the Indians love it so much.

But I have so little faith in cricket not being rigged on the sub-continent to start with, that the latest Pakistani betting scandal tipped the scales for me to ignore it.

Just checked BetFair odds and love how many options they offer on this though.

      Century Scored?
      Completed Match
      Fifty Scored?
      Five Wickets in an Innings?
      Highest 6 Over Total
      Highest Individual Score
      Match Odds
      Method Of First Dismissal
      Most Sixes
      Opening Partnership
      Super Over
      Tied Match
      Top Victoria Batsman
      Top Warriors Batsman
      Total Fours
      Total Match Run Outs
      Total Sixes
      Victoria First Over Runs
      Victoria Innings Runs
      Victoria Opening Partnership
      Warriors First Over Runs
      Warriors Innings Runs
      Warriors Opening Partnership

Vics are -150 ML though... sounds a bit short for a match you think they will just squeak by in maybe?

What about total sixes O/U 9 +120/-120? Have an opinion on that?

I read Hodge is playing for Vic? But they lost White who was their captain and pulled them out of so many tight situations, and also no Hussey. Two of their internationals aren't playing because they had contract disputes. Warriors have home advantage, value is on them IMO.

I agree that the head to head is a bit shorter than I wanted; but I still thought it was pretty good value. I would have gone with a couple of those options if I had them available; but I didn't I've been burned a couple of times lately by picking most sixes; so I wanted to steer clear from that tonight, but there can often be some value there too.

Hodge is in, so is Hussey as far as I know. Not sure about the players with contract disputes, but I know that the Victorian selector said that McGain and Siddle would likely play in later games in the tournament.

Alright; I'm calling it for Warriors with Victoria 3-73 chasing 159 and only 46 balls remaining. All of my research pointed towards a close game with a Bushrangers win, but I didn't really see Jacobs' evening coming - his fielding and batting was phenomenal. It happens; I'm going to bed to resist the temptation to lay some dough on the Ravens to try to chase my loss - I know if I do that the Jets will win easily. Now that I haven't - the Ravens will make the line.

Here's hoping that Villa or Djokovic get up.

After listening to Greg Matthews preview last night, I went with the Warriors, and a speculator laying against the first dismissal being a catch. (so up 2-0)

Victoria should still be one of the favourites, but as Greg Matthews said, that Warriors team could go all the way too... perfect example of a champion team beating a team of champions, without their longtime captain.

Vics will benefit a lot from Cameron White's return.

Thankfully the Chiefs got up to save some blushes from my Tuesday; so I'm back to have another look at some T20 goodness.

                    Mumbai Indians v South Australia
Mumbai suffered a shock loss to South African team Lions in their opening match, while South Australia opened their account with an 11 run win over said Lions over the weekend. Michael Klinger went huge for the Redbacks, scoring 78 from 48 balls, including 5 sixes. As far as Mumbai are concerned, the less said about their opener the better - although Malinga bowled quite well, and Sachin went about his usual business.

I like Mumbai in this one; simply because a team with that much talent simply should not lose two games in a row. If the Indians play Dwayne Bravo - I'll be all over it - he destroyed teams in last years Big Bash, and could likely do it again. There may also be some play in picking the South Australians to hit more sixes than the Indians; based on the numbers against the same bowling attack in their respective first games, it appears the Redbacks like to give it the long handle a bit more.

Then again - after my last couple of days, I would fade everything I say :

I was going to play the o9 sixes, but fell asleep and missed it. Could have got $2.18. And Mumbai already has 9 by the 15th over of course! LOL

Here it is folks - your best picks to fade!

                          Central Districts v Victoria
I got burned pretty bad by Victoria earlier in the week; and part of me wants to say that they were just a bit rusty and will start to click soon, and part of me wants to say that they are actually rubbish and will possibly get pantsed by a half decent team. As it so happens, I don't really think Centrals are quite at the required level for the T20 Champions League, as was shown by their first match loss to Chennai displayed. Given the strength of the Victorian bowling attack (supposedly), I'm going to hop on the Vics to have the higher opening stand tonight, in a vain hope that I will get something right eventually. I just can't see Centrals being in this one too much to be honest.

                          Chennai vs Wayamba
Like Centrals, I suspect Wayamba may be a bit out of their depth in this competition. It is not the star players who this affects however, as guys like Jayawardene are usually going to find ways to score runs if you hand them a piece of paper and make them face Doug Bollinger and his gleaming bald head. Its the guys lower in the order, or second change bowlers who get spanked, and while I think Wayamba may put up something of a fight tonight, I think that Chennai will simply be too strong. There are a couple of pretty big hitters in that Chennai side, so I'll be getting on Chennai to hit more sixes.

                          Happy fading everyone!

And in order for me to get my first tip for the T20 right, Victoria will require of their opening partnership...2. Unsurprisingly, I'm still nervous. The loss of Hodge due to illness severely dents Victoria's chances, but we'll see how this run chase goes...luckily for me, Peter Siddle did the business.

I definitely get the feeling that without White or Hodge, the Victorians really struggle - but then again, I've rarely been right about anything in this tourney so far. Victoria's 0/6 from 1.4 overs is enough for me tonight though; glad I didn't get on them for the win, but the odds I had seemed a bit short, so I stayed clear.

Hayden did indeed play; and got 10 from 18 balls.

So, the Bushrangers snuck home on the back of Finch's unbeaten 93 - nice work by the young man. Was looking hairy for a while there. It was also nice of them on the way to have an opening stand of more than 2 - so I finally got on the board for the T20 comp. Likewise, Chennai spanked Wayamba, with Suresh Raina hitting 3 times more 6's than the entire Wayamba team. Which leaves me at 2-2 for the comp. I'm off to stick my head in some Brownlow Medal data...

Mumbai is a bit short at $1.10, no matter who they are playing, based on the performance against SA.

Anyone have thoughts on the total 6s in the this? Early betting is going with the u10.
