One American gambler who bet £65,000 on Tiger Woods to win the Masters collected William Hill’s largest ever golf payout Sunday after the American secured an famous success.
Placed at odds of 14-1, the unidentified punter was the recipient of just under £1 million following Woods’ first major triumph since 2008.
“It’s great to see Tiger back," said Nick Bogdanovich, director of trading at the U.S. office of William Hill. "It’s a painful day for William Hill — our biggest golf loss ever — but a great day for golf."
Before the Augusta tournament had begun, Bogdanovich revealed the wager was so large he had to clear it with his bosses.
