    Just My Luck

I make a deposit at the local racetracks phone betting. First time in 15 years. The first 4 races I'm betting $1 exactas a horse keyed with all. For no reason I change it up up Scioto Race 4. I do $5 exacta 10 with the 2,5. It comes in 10/6/2. The 10 horse paid $10 and 6 paid about $40 to place. The $2 exacta paid $2,920.

I just thought I'd share this. I've hit some good ones in the day so I can't complain, but this really would have given me life. I guess I would have got back $700 for a $1 if i had a live ticket.

P.S. I have no idea how on God's earth it paid so much either.

Doesn't it always happen this way. I feel your pain Rob, 2 weeks ago I threw out a horse of my pick 4 ticket to save $4 and ended up costing myself $2,600! Sometimes it just feels like every move you make is wrong.

My biggest ticket would have been about 17k in which I had ample funds. In this case I wasn't trying to manage the ticket, I forgot a piece of paper that had Bob Bettiger's pick 6 from Delmar last summer. he had the #7horse in the last leg as his favorite horse for the race. Of course the #7 wins. That haunts me.

i hit a $378 pick 4 (for a buck so it was a $750 pk 4) a month ago and have been up and down with it. my horror story came earlier this week. i had plenty of bullets in the account and the partnership trotter was going off at odds of 30-1. i had $5 to win, $10 to place and $20 to show on him firing from the #1 hole. he's really chit the bed lately and wouldnt ya know it the ballless bastard pulled it off at the wire. and me, with my $5 to win. $63 to win, $17 something to place and $7 something to show. soybean/welfare burger payout but hey, thats meadows racing

Will never forget, my brother, a buddy of mine and I were out at Penn one night and my buddy, hot as could be, picked an exacta out of his ass that paid 112 in a 12 horse field. I tagged along and my brother thought he did as well, until he looked at the ticket and saw he pressed 8 not 9. Horrid then, but a good story now.
