    Hi,

I am thinking about jumping back into Yankee Racing with Belmont nearly ready to start, Arlington Park, Churchill Downs, Calder ready to get going and now Woodbine have blown off the cob-webs - it's time to punt in Canada.

So, I have looked at 5Dimes - when you bet - does your money go into the track pool - therefore affecting your dividend - or does 5Dimes stand the bet and take the bet on and basically go by law of averages that punters lose over the long run.

Any feedback will be much appreciated.

they put it in their pocket and hold it...they probably have limits so watch your exotics...also avoid calder...extremely minor track with sub-standard jocks and horses...

I used to bet Calder all the time when Coa and Homeister Jr. were there. I also would bet Gary Bain whenever he rode since he would always bring in some 40-80-1 shot at least once a month.

I remember having Bain on a 50-1 shot in a short sprint, he was up by 10 lengths in the stretch and ended up holding on for the place. I think I had 10/10 on him, not bad but that guy is horrible.

I love Calder but getting back to 5dimes, they take bets in increments of 25 cents there.

in regards to your original post:

the money does NOT go into the actual race pools. but you still receive the exact track payouts. plus theres an added incentive you can play in either the "plus 10%" racebook where all win wagers earn 10% of the payout (i.e. bet $20 to win on 2-1 shot, get 60 back + an extra 6..sometimes takes a while to get that credited to your account tho. also exotics, and place/show earn extra too but idk the exact rules and percentages if theyre the same as the 10%)

there is also the rebate racebook. at the end of the day i believe you get 10% of all NET LOSSES for that day credited back to your account.

and correct me if im wrong anybody but 5D does not offer any canadian or int'l tracks. at least i know theres no woodbine harness available. im pretty sure u cant bet on woodbine t-breds either tho

Although you may not like Calder, which I don't, calling it an "extremely minor track" isn't true.

calder has slipped in quality during these spring summer fall days...you must be able to see that the northern tracks belmont/saratoga,monmouth,arlington,churchill, and the slot tracks get all the good jocks and horses...these days...that summit of speed thing they're trying hasn't really caught on...it's fine for the year round fla horseman and they have a pretty good wagering format and handle, but...extremely minor is a bit harsh... definite 2nd tier place...

I could care less about quality. Calder has plenty of my favorite type of race to bet, which is maiden races and they have have plenty of volatility overall.

Yeah, there is a tab for it. When you log into the site look at the top left of the screen below where it shows your betpoints and right below the BookMaker logo. There are tabs from left to right; sportsbook, racebook, casino etc...

racebook is the second one listed

With that being said, I have never used it so I can't give my opinion.

Not to start a whole discussion here but it's wierd. That's what I would have assumed but when I log in the tabs I get are, right below betpoints I have:

Sportsbook - Casino - Poker - Parlay Cards - Office Pools - Bingo - Cashier

No racebook. I will have to ask next time I am on the site.

Calder is a +10% track, meaning most exotics and all win bets pay extra. I can't believe all the misinformation being sent here. Woodbine t-breds are taken, but as a "minor" track, exotics are limited, and you only get the 10% bonus on win bets. Otherwise, they pay full odds on Calder, period, including exotics.

if woodbine is a minor track and calder a major track...someone should look at the purse structure and then have your brain checked if you think calder is better... calder sucks...total crap...end of story....minor league operation...summit of speed...what a joke...

Compared to the tracks you listed, yes it is nothing in regards to quality of horses. But as others point out, there is value. Two different things.
