I know that this may unpopular and it usually starts a big argument but the longer that I follow the thoroughbred racing the more that the "Kentucky Derby" is the most over hyped event in sports. From racing standpoint and especially from a breeding standpoint. It nevers settles who is the best 3yo.

Kentucky Derby is a hyped out event to get shitty horses to be far much more than their worth

It may be over hyped, and at the end of the day it may not decide the best 3yo (about 50-50), but everyone associated with the sport would give their left nut to win it. From a betting perspective, it is as good as it gets. A race where 17 of 20 entrants are more than 10-1 opens the door for massive payouts in the exotics.

I picked two imports from El Sheba last year,
I think they liked running in the sand more then
            the dirt.

The track there was dirt setup to be like Churchill, but a few years ago they installed a Tapeta synthetic mix. It's used some in the US. Tapeta tends to favor turf horses as opposed to true dirt horses, so I believe it's hard to take anything from the UAE Derby, especially in light of their past performances in the Derby.

Who ever claimed that it did? At best you can spot the best 3yo at that time of year. It is a singular event but probably the best horse race in world. Plus it is always best horse-capping puzzle of the year. Don't get people who hate fact that it's large field. That's the beauty of it!

Someone over there bought Sweet Ducky and plans to run him in the UAE Derby.I have him small in the Derby future pool 1 but I don't think this bodes well for his chances.

Dubai route never has worked. Hopefully, he at least starts in the Kentucky Derby.

Yeah Slew I know it probably is far fetched now to see him in the Kentucky Derby .I thought he ran really really well in the Holy Bull behind Dialed In so I put a little on his nose.Someone else obviously thought he ran well also but once they go to Dubai you usually never see them again over here.

my guess is the derby winner will come out of the bluegrass stakes, louisiana derby santa anita derby or arkansas derby,, many late developing three year-olds will be on par w/moe
