Betting a $1 to show on favorites isn't going to make you rich.

you can never lose money on a bet like that

in wisconsin the minimum payments were 2.20 on a 2.00 bet, most states they're 2.10 on a 2.00 bet

so even if every dollar is bet on the favorite horse it will pay you 2.10 and the track will lose

A) No you didnt B) No states pay horse horse racing winnings in multiples of pennies. They all (with the exception of NY) pay in multiples of .10c. So even the heavest of favorites is going to pay you back $2.10 (on a $2 minimum bet) C) No where BEFORE the race is run can you see "show payouts", like you can with win wagers. You can see the actual pool totals of $$$$$ wagered on each horse, but even the track can't tell you what the payout will be before the race result, because it is contingent upon which 3 horses (and their show total $$$ wagered) place in the money. it paid 2.60 to show for $2........ you got $1.30 for a $1. Profit was $0.30. You got your dollar back.

When you win a sports bet it says 22/20......... but you get your 22 back plus 20 profit.
