To be honest I think both of these can get stuck in the gate and still WIN the race let alone hit the board but to answer your question the judges have to decide if the horse had a "fair start" so it is not as easy as yes or noComment -

I just looked at the racebook, i have never bet horses before, so how do you know the odds for a horse winning, placing or showing?
Next to r alexandra odds only say 0.2, but honrstly i have no clue what that means.Comment -

because sometimes it doesn't ... as was the case with Zenyatta ... the win paid $2.60 - place $2.20 - Show $2.10 ...
The better question is - why would anyone bet using the tote at all ..when you have no idea what odds you are going to get until after the race has ended ... imagine putting your money down on a football or basketball game not knowing what the returns were going to be until after the game was over .... people here would call you all kinds of crazy .... Horse players are a very strange breed ....

Glad some people profited, JW it works in your favor more than against you especially if you know what you are doing you know where late money will go, onner you don't play to win in these situations you play to show why let a bank hold your money for a year at 5% when you can pick up 10% in an hour? It works for certain types of bets/bettors .... I MUCH prefer exchange betting where i can calculate my profits/percentages/returns/risk at the time I place my bet .... I can beat track odds 95% of the time on an exchange for a straight win bet (which is how I play more often than not)Comment -
