What Is The Most You Won On A Race And The Story Behind It?
I'm sure there are interesting stories that others would like to see. Who could ever forget that big hit? I have a few.

The biggest one I ever hit was for 9kish. I can't cap for my life and don't even try. Depending on my roll or if I'm going to bet races all day I'll buy the daily racing program ( the book not the paper) and play pick 4's or exactas based on who the 4 people like.

Early last spring, March I think, I came home and wanted to bet the late pick 4 at Santa Anita. I only had the NewYork Post. I looked at the will pays ( daily double, pick 3) to see if something didn;t add up. I saw a 15 morning line that seemed a bit low yet its odds were about 12-1. I played this horse along with what the guy picked in the post. I went 2/3/3/3 deep. The last leg I wasn't going to throw in the extra horse but at the last moment I did. The horse I threw in won at 7-2. I had payoff of either 30K (even though I could only get 20K due to the max) 9K, and 4k. I can't complain.

Last year I played a $.30 superfecta at Remington Park.. I remember i think I spent $6 or $8 on the ticket.. I believe it was 3/1 over 8/1 over 55/1 over 20/1... it paid $1800 for every dime..

2 years ago I was playing at Pinnacle and hit the pick 4 at Cal Expo for $11k, but the cutoff was 5k for that small track at pinnacle... still wasnt complaining

Nothing real huge in my short horse racing life.....

My favorite story, was about 4 years ago, me, my wife (girlfriend at the time) and another couple went up to Emerald Downs here in the Seattle area. My wife had never been and really didn't want to go. It was probably about the 4th race, she literally borrowed a dollar out of my pocket and randomnly picked a 3 horse trifecta. If I remember right she picked the 8 horse to win, because it had a pink number, another horse cause the Jockey looked mean, and then some other horse on some other pointless idea. Long story short, the damn thing hit for just over $600. Needless to say I still hear about that one.

Ended up with about a -G- note after Giacomo won the Derby. Have had a few other wins around $800 and $600.

I was a kid, probably in the 3rd grade or so. My dad dragged me to the horse races on a school night with a bunch of his co-workers. After a long night of not cashing any tickets, my dad and his pals thought I'd have some better luck. I confidently selected a 5-1 exacta because I liked how the horses looked. Easy cash. They bought me free junk food: nachos, ice cream, soda. It was great.

I love when that kind of shit happens. I saw a little old lady at the track on Derby Day this year who had a $4 win ticket on Mine that Bird... Out of all the crowd in my area, she was the only one who had the winner, at 50-1. I overheard her telling someone that she likes birds so she bet the two horses with "bird" in their names (the other one was Summer Bird)... Good for her!

That race was also my biggest win.
I had a big bet across the board on Closing Argument, who finished 2nd at 72-1.
Ended up taking about $6k out of the race.

What pissed me off, though, was my last minute decision not to wheel him up and down with the field in the exacta. It would have cost me another $38, and ended up paying like $4,500 for $1. Stupid ass that I am, I had hundreds across the board and cheaped out on spending another $38.

I am not a horse bettor but on one of my few trips to the track I put $100 on a 7-1 horse to win. He won. I got $700. Thats really it. I don't even know how horse racing really works. I just took him because as soon as I walked in some guy looked me in the eye and told me to take him.

Sarava in the Belmont was an awesome day. I hit a huge Pick6 at Del Mar when I was 20.

I remember Sarava well. Medaglia D'Oro is probably my favorite horse of all time, and Sarava beat him by about half a length or so.
What did Sarava pay? Was like 70-1 right?
