    Couple Thursday plays
Race 4 at Belmont on Thursday. Maiden Special on turf. No. 7 Risky Agenda makes 3rd start off the layoff and stretches to 1 1/8 around 2 turns, which led to a 2nd place finish in April at Aqueduct before a poor effort going a mile 3 weeks ago at Belmont.

Trainer switches from Samyn to Prado here, so they might mean business. Likely 4-1 or so.

Second play is bizarre. I wrote down this horse in my online stable a month ago. Castoway Girl broke her maiden at Monmouth for $10,000. Slow time for 6 furlongs at 1:12 4/5 (3 seconds slower than allowance race earlier that day) but I liked the way she won, so I figured if they ran her back for $5,000 or $7,500 claiming, it might be worth a play.

Now, she turns up in Race 5 Thursday for claiming $4,000 at Penn National. Same trainer. If they really thought the horse was sharp, why not run for more money at Penn? Instead, she's the 3-1 morning line favorite in a 12-horse field. Have to wait for the odds on this one, but she'll likely be bet down under 2-1 making it tough to take. Curious to see how it plays out but maybe she drifts up with the big field.

I've been following Prime Ruler since his maiden win in which he overcame trouble to win.Today he surfaces in Hollywood's seventh race, a six furlong turf event. Drawing the two post a comfortable trip is possible. A 12-1 morning line is enough for me to place a small wager today.

Thanks for the heads up. Will check it out.

He's 20-1 on the ML on Equibase. His form must be pretty bad.

For anyone that follows, please note that Risky Agenda is program #1 in Bel-4, as he is part of PJ Kelly entry.

Yes, thanks for the correction. I noticed it when making the bet, but didn't see the entry on equibase.

1A Hit the Point is scratched as main track only.

            9-Madame Brillon $7.40$4.10$2.80
            1-Risky Agenda $6.40$4.00
            5-Crystal Minuet $2.70

Risky Agenda was last down the backstretch, moved into contention on the turn. Prado tried to go between but had no room so he had to go wide. Finished full of run and finished second at 6-1 about a length behind the winner.

Exacta with one of three favorites returned $48, but I didn't have it. PS at least makes small profit

Poor racing luck.It happens.I made seven dollars.
For a brief time Prime Ruler was considered to be the best two year old at del mar. The next race in the DMrFut he broke poorly at 5to2. He won at 3/5 in a conditioned race at oak tree, followed by a third place finish in a stakes. Gone six months his comeback on this turf course has the look of a horse that needed a race. The 20 to 1 comes off his last line,l a very dull effort over the cushion track.
I'm not sure this is the right spot, running against older horses. However I seen enough talent to think Prime Ruler will win another race some day.

Risky Agenda will likely run next at Saratoga, but we won't see 6-1.

Castaway Girl wins at $4.60. Good call Slew. The filly ran on the wrong lead in the stretch to hang on in a photo. There's the reason for the drop in class, she's got some physical issues.
Lost 4 dollars on the race, tried to hit the pick three with the earlier races.

I bet the horse at OTB with 4 minutes to post and she was 4-1, but I figured with so little money in the pool she'd drop and she did down to 6-5.

I only cashed WP with no exacta (played the 7) and we had to sweat out the 24-1 shot flying at the finish to win by a neck and then the trainer and jockey objection from the 3rd place horse.

Watching the replay, I figured she stay up and the stewards would rule quickly. Then it dragged out for 5 to 7 minutes, which is never a good sign. Then got the official sign.

As expected, the horse was claimed for $4,000. The owners took home $7,900 with the winner's share of $3,900. If they got DQ'd down to third, they would have lost $3,200 and only gotten $750 for running third. At least their trip home was a better ride. Very slow final time of 1:14, so we'll have to see where she turns up next.

thezbar: Where did you watch the race? Does HRTV air Penn National?

                        1. I watched the race via the track feed on expressbet.com.
                        2. Not sure. I doubt it. My cable provides TVG but not HRTV.

I have accounts with tvg, expressbet and youbet. Plus replays of california races available thru Calracing.com and New york races thru nyra.com. Both sites are free and a good handicapping tool

Callracing is awesome because you also get the live video, which is great for me for Santa Anita because directv doesn't carry HRTV. I also use the NYRA video page as well.
