well need to kick it gear -$24.60 based on $2 wagers since i started to post here.

looks like 1 play for this afternoon and will wait and see if penn is going to run tonight

i believe most of the money will be going on the 4 horse or the 7 horse but lets take a look at the "other" asmussen horse in here

#5 laheen. comes in from woodbine out of a mdn 69k race and was wide throughout. was bet down in that race and loked like she needed that race. steady stream of works looks like she is ready to roll.

the 4 and the 7 looks like they will be battling it out on the front end and maybe the 10 will join in. thinking they will be posting 21-44.8-57.8 like fractions and just not going to have enough to hold on.

plus i've made a bit of money going with the higher odds horse if the trainer has 2 uncoupled horses in the same race

so lets play the 5 horse win/place for double the usual wager $4=$8

and a 5/8-4 exacta for double the normal wager $4=$8

rc4 the 8 horse win/place not really a stand out in this race so i will go with the new shooter. like maragh on turf horses

rc7 looks like there is a few early pace type horses in this race with the 3-6-8-9. was hoping the 7 would be in this race as well just because of the pace but she is a no go. i'm looking at 1 of the off the pace runners in here and i believe the 5 is about the best bet. dropping down 1 class level and has some nice back class and is 4-2-2 out of 10 races at this distance. not to mention a pretty good jockey and a 6-4-5 out of 20 races at this track. thinking it sets up pretty nice for this mare.

5 horse win/place and a 5/2-4 exacta

rc9 looks like the same scenario as rc7 alot of early pace type runners so going with a closer in this race as well. the 6 horse will be the play. trainer is recpectable and does well with sprint-route-sprint angle. like the track and the distance (1 for 1) and should be closing hard. the 1 horse is a must use in the exacta or tri because he is a 7 furlong specialist (3-5 out of 8 starts at this distance)

play the 6 horse win/place with a 6/1-4 exacta

rc10 looks like the total oppisite of rcs 7 and 9. so i am looking at a horse that can get the lead andd might give these the slip. the 2 horse at 12-1 ml might be able to do just that. 2nd start off the layoff 2nd start after a claim and dropping down in class.

play the 2 win/place and depending on the odds near post time show

nothing really stands out today (i really liked the 3 horse in rc5 but she was a scratch) but rc5 is still my strongest race

tues april 20th

hawthorn rc6

kinda interesting race on the turf with 2 girls going at it with 5 boys

#1 three tickets--- at 1st glance looks like he will be involved early but if you look close at the pp's you will see in every grass race he has been off the pace. in the dirt races he likes being up close so he must not like dirt kicked up in his face. pass

#2 strong stag--- is coming off a layoff and has been training pretty well but is 2-5-5 out of 37 races. might be in line for a minor award say 3rd best case but 4th being more realistic

#3 country town--- trying turf for the 1st time and is 3-4-6 out of 37 races so my guess is they are just seeing if he likes the turf before they offer him up for a cheap claimer. pedigree says no---- i say pass

#4 peterman---see above

#5 where's winston--- 2nd off layoff and is going back to turf where he is 1-1-1 out of 5 starts on turf and is 1-1 out of 2 starts at hawthorn. looks like the only speed in here. definate player here

#6 southern wonder---- filly taking on the boys. looks like she does her best running on the turf especially this turf but she comes off the pace which should be controled by the 5 horse. i see her in the 2nd spot

#7 link to my heart--- mare taking on the boys. again see above pretty much. not as good as the 6 horse imho and will be coming off the pace just like the 6 horse. 2nd off layoff and has the best trainer and jockey stats out of all these but will be in a disadvantage because of the pace in here.
