We lost a superstar when he passed. I also think we may have lost a superstar sire in the process. The winners of the top stakes for 2 year old runners at Del Mar were his progeny. Cave Rock looks like he could be anything. Looking forward to watching these youngsters run.

#2Okay, you breeding experts educate me here. Arrogate sired the filly Wing Haven that is Japanese bred at Northern Farm. This is his only progeny listed as a Japanese bred. How is this possible? This is the only foal that is not listed to be bred in the USA. This filly broke her maiden at first asking over there also.Comment -

#4Hey JBEX,
I thought about that but what threw me was this:
Owner: T Chaki
Breeder: Northern Farm
Northern Farm is in Japan. Maybe it is listed because that is where the foal was born. I also would think you are correct as the dam was sold to a Japanese interest but does not give the year. This is her first foal. Interesting.Comment -

I think that's what it is pigpen..wherever it's born is the breeding country
dam was a nice horse and a graded stakes winner..off to a good start with her first foalComment -

#6Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Long day.
The breeder is whoever owns the mare ( and therefore the new born foal) at time of birth.
Where it's foaled is where (what location) it drops (to the ground, in this case, in Japan) at birth.
Where it's conceived is of no matter.
Hope that makes sense.Comment -

#7Starting to make sense now. The place this youngster was born becomes the breeder even though her mom and dad had a date over here in Kentucky. Now, I was aware of jurisdictions following this rule as to the state bred racing but not so much as to classifying the breeding farm. Good stuff. Thanks guys.Comment -

#8BTW This dam has another filly born in 2021 by Kitasan Black, Japanese HOY consecutive years ('16-'17) a grandson of Sunday Silence. Japan owes SS a deal of gratitude as he has such and influence over there.Comment -

well she's got license to be any kind with those bloodlines.. agree and hard to imagine what the japanese breed would be like without sunday silence blood in the mix.. a game changer to put it mildlyComment
