Another W for Kent Desormeaux on the #1 in R4. He has been riding great for months now. Not sure how many people on here follow west coast racing, but he dealt with substance abuse issues for a long time and finshed more of an extensive rehab (think he's been multiple times) last year. I hope he stays sober and continues to do well as he's a guy I'll continue to root for. Hopefully, I'm not missing anything and he really is a decent guy who just struggled with demons as many of us do.

SPA - Good card, many great betting races. I feel like a lot of chalk has been coming in so far at this meet. Usually SPA is a tough, tough place. Anyways, mostly done. Might add more throughout the day.

wow.. not often you get chad brown at that price

didn't look at it before the race but took a look afterwards and that colt has a monster pedigree and making only his 4th start.. this is the type of horse that can just explode all of sudden and what better place to do it than the spa

realize it's easy to say after the fact lol.. sometimes when I see allowance races up there I don't even bother looking because I know they are usually extremely competitive and difficult to cap.. I do think (at least for me) that when they are restricted to 3 year olds, especially up there, you really have a chance for a break out performance on a horse who numbers-wise just looks so-so (or even bad which was the case with the brisnets on this one).. pedigree is an excellent way to get some value

Thanks, JBEX. The pedigree was solid, knew he needed to increase his speed figure by a good amount, but worth a shot for me with Brown. Surprised he went off that high. Good points that you shared, yes, the allowance races up there very competitive as many good horses don't even hit the board in those races.
