Today – Turf Paradise Race 9 – 8 Truckin
So, using my stats - only 1 horse stands out today.
Truckin likes Turf Paradise and the distance. Raced 18 times, won 5 and itm 13 times and over the 6f 110y distance – raced 5 times – has won and been in the money 3 times
During the summer raced twice at Finger Lakes and came back to Turf Paradise.
First race back on 28th Oct – had an inside draw – but looking at the race – the horse didn’t appear to be race fit – fell back down the back stretch – went around the home turn OK – but was never a danger to the leaders.
13th Nov – Upped in grade and broke better but could not tag onto the leaders and when Truckin hit the stretch – the jockey didn’t really go all out to make an effort.
26th Nov – 3rd run back from a layoff and much improved effort after being dropping back down in grade at today’s distance. Broke very well, grabbed the lead at the start and controlled the pace all the way down the back straight. Challengers came to get Truckin around the home turn and Truckin managed to fight them off and hit the home stretch duelling for the lead. Then got pipped in the last 25 yards by the winner – but what was noticeable was Truckin stayed with the passing winner and tried to come back and was only beaten a neck – which for me is a winner waiting to happen and in a disguise of a runner up.
Last run – 11th Dec – at a shorter 6f trip. Hit the gates from the widest draw and duelled for the lead all the way down the back. On 26th Nov – when managing to control the pace – Truckin posted a 23sec 1st quarter. In this duel, Truckin and the other horse posted a 22.11 first quarter – which was suicidal ! But still was the leader at the top of the home stretch and faded at the finish after burning up all its energy in the first quarter.
So today at Turf Paradise – back at 6f 110yds – in the same grade and hopefully if Truckin does not post another suicidal first quarter – should be bang on fit to repel any raiders around the home turn and this time jockey Rocco Bowen can save a little bit for the final 50 yards and win !
I think the only real serious challenger is Strum Bum – but the trainer has only won 1 race at Turf Paradise so far and brakes from the widest 12 box !
Also, the horses inside of Truckin at the start don't look that much and Truckin has only 1 or 2 horses from the inside that will challenge for the early lead.
At morning line of 5/2 – I think this a cracking win, place, show bet – as I am 4 out of 4 on the show bets – I think this has a great shot of hitting the frame.
