his last 3 dirt races were his last 2 and one 5 starts back... last not so great but 2 back and 5 back much better than this field going by beyers earned and type of running line IMO

I have the BRIS report, they give the horse only a 65 for the second race back, but a 79 for the fifth back. The favorite, Meeting Francis, they give a 75 for it's second race back. You downgrade that because it's wire to wire?

meeting francis got a 51 beyer for the race 2 back and lost by a half length meaning the winners beyer was only a point more.. running on the front end not a downgrade for me.. classic pp's which I get now indicate slow or very slow pace and fast or very fast pace without giving actual figures..that race was neither.. esken lady 2 back was a 50 beyer losing by 8 lengths at 6f meaning the winners beyer was 69..50 into a 69 only a couple of lengths off first 2 calls beats a horse who wired them with a 51 by a lot in my rating system..5 races back 57 into a 75 winners beyer even better and very similar running line to other race.. all I had to do was forgive the last race and admittedly there was no obvious excuse and this was a much better horse to me

on a separate note probably look at one of the smaller tracks today

also worthy of mention is beyer had the race 2 back of both horses as a 1 point difference while bris had it as a 10 point difference so they obviously don't agree on the numbers

nope.. only had exposure to the racing forms "pace grading" when a race is either extreme for about a month now but did fine without it.. not saying pace is unimportant but not something I use other than a soft feel for what fractions should be around.. realize that can vary from day to day depending how the track is and what track it is.. I like horses who show a little early lick or run evenly in races that are at least 5 lengths faster than the one he's running in today
