Hit the first race, had the 9 at 7/2
Win / Place paid $9.00/4.60 for 13.60
Of course the second place horse paid 16 for place, so I pick the winner of the first race and we aren't even in first place.....

PIcked the 2nd place horse in the second race, paid $5. Now sitting at $18.60 in 10th place after 2 races.
Of course, with a 15-1 shot winning the second, I am already 50 bucks out of first.
*I swear these tourneys are all about luck and picking some long shots, its not about handicapping. Someone tell me how I am wrong.

Missed the third race...two more decent prices come in...pushing me deeper down the leaderboard now 23rd.

Now you start looking at the charts of who picks what, and over 70% of the players are just picking the longest shots on the board.

There are 98 people in the tournament of course you are going to have to hit a price to keep up.Monroe Court wasn't just a wild stab.Ran his 2 best races at 6.5 and 7 furlongs which were as good as anyone in the field at the distance.I'll be the first to say when a bomb makes no sense but like to think if I was on my game I could have sniffed that one out . Both the leaders also had Centre Court who paid $6.20 to win.Its kind of sour grapes to just say they got lucky.

No of course, not, that's not what I meant, but it just seems like you have to shoot for some crazy prices...and hope you hit a few of them.

There are some tournaments where someone hits a bomb in the last race to win.I agree that this is luck but for the most part its just a bunch of really good handicappers. You have to get most of them right whether they are short prices or long shots.

Yeah I think I was just grumpy from an overall pretty down day at the tracks. Couldn't seem to hit much at all today other than my first couple of bets.
I think my strategy for those things are just wrong. I will just stick to playing the h2H games
Sorry for the rant guys.

Those games are really tough, like Mike said, there are a bunch of good cappers in those things. Probably half the field on any weekend are dedicated, highly knowledgeable and well informed life long race speculators, sharps.
I have found that most times I get better results trying to peel bark from a Locust with my bare fingers.

yeah DDT - very fun and a must if you are planning on playing the races on that day anyway right... you're already hitting the pp's or watching replays whatever so for short money you can double your fun so to speak. Dont feel bad, I played like 4 or those contests where you need to be in Top 10 to enter more lucrative contest later that day and I came in 1st on 2 of them. WOuld have been better served going with alternate where you win $$. FkngHindsight!

It seems like they are getting tougher even on weekdays.Friday I totaled $95 with only 31 people and didn't even get top 5.

Here's the race line up.

It looks like maybe 2,500 - 3,000 players, maybe more?
No doubt it is gonna be tough to finding the payout window in this game.
