I'm not on the spread because of the same reason D3 mentioned, pulling the goalie late that might screw the spread. I think there's more value in the straight up win here

I wish my book offered Moneylines on this tournament but unfortunately only spreads and totals. I definitely think Russia -0.5 at +600 is worth a shot in a game that could go either way. Like I mentioned before, let's just say Canada is up 5-3 with 2 minutes or so left, Russia will still pull their goalie because its an elimination game so your +2.5 would be in jeopardy. Tonight's spread sort of scares me for Russia backers.

Canada are favorites but a lot of that is thanks to home ice and media hype. RUS have the advantage in goal and have better high end prospects like Yakupov/Kuznetzov. I think the pressure from last year could actually hurt CAN in the end and RUS are playing inspired hockey for their fallen teammates in the plane crash. I think the value on RUS is a no-brainer.

What does Russian world Junior Hockey team have to do with players that died in a plane crash???? They are not comrades..They are from the same country.That's it..
They are not in the same league, same age....it wasn't a Canadian missile that crashed the plane or a Canadian pilot in a Canadian plane...

Two members from last year's WJC team were on the plane and many of the current staff/roster have connections to the tragedy in some way.

The Russians have devoted their efforts in Calgary to the memory of those who perished in the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl plane crash last September. Among the 37 players, coaches and staff killed were two members, forward Danill Sobchenko and defenceman Yuri Urychev, from Russian coach Valeri Bragin’s gold-medal winning team from last year.
There also were two players, Pavel Snurnitsyn and Maksim Shuvalov, who likely would have been part of this Russian junior team.

I'd like to personally thank the media for overhyping and overrating this CAN team. I waited all tourny for this game to cash in on these odds.

Not to use an excuse for CAN, but most of their best eligible skilled players are in the NHL. Without them they had to rely too heavily on Huberdeau and Strome. Scheifele has been a big disappointment...and like you said their goaltending is weak. Also after Gormley and Hamilton the dropoff on D is pretty significant.

This is true, but Canada chose to suit up a lot of older less talented players in favour of better younger guys just because it was the last year they'd be eligible to play in the tourny. They need to get back to the winning at all costs mentality instead about worrying about hurting peoples feelings.
