None of them are compelling.

Tampa Bay swept the Capitals, who once again choke in the playoffs.
Bruins will beat the Flyers.
Sharks are a huge favorite to beat the Red Wings.
Canucks are a pretty big favorite to advance as well.

Agreed. I don't really know why but it's pretty hard to make any sort of argument that the NHL has any hint of being rigged. I've enjoyed the second round just as much but haven't seen a lot. Cheers

lol, buddy get real. This is gambling. I always find it hillarious when ppl gamble expecting to win every time out and when they don't, they blame it on refs or somebody who fixed it.

I've never thought of the NHL as a sport that anyone would fix. There isn't enough money involved, and it is too complicated of a sport to fix. The only sport I can say without question that has been fixed on occasion in the past 10 years is the NBA. All other American sports seem to try their hardest to get it done right. Replay in football proves they aren't trying to intentionally screw anybody, although sometimes it still happens with bad calls, but overall I would say that the NHL is the most legit of them all. No one wants the lightning to win it all except for me and my fellow lightning fans here in Tampa!! If you don't think the NBA has given preferential treatment to certain teams in the last 10 years then you must be a lakers fan. I know the Suns and kings feel the robbery!!

once the Pens are out, a team that has gotten many inexplicable breaks both on and off the ice over the past few years, all talk of a fix ceases. The NHL does play "favourites" for sure...

Hockey is fixed people. I have noticed especially the Winter Classics. I have called 3 or 4 fixes in the past few years (I had a thread about it). And my calls weren't just 'x team would win', they were

Reg Season: '+250 away underdog will win 3-2',
Stanley Cup Finals a couple of years ago: 'pittsburgh will win the cup' (fixed so they would win it)
Winter Classic two years ago: 'home team will be behind all game and win with a rally in the last few minutes to engage large number of spectators.'
Olympics: This was my best fix call ever. Because I knew the Canadians would not settle for anything less than Gold. After Canada lost it's first game to the US in the 1st round, one more lost game and they would have been eliminated. Everyone lost faith. But that's when I made the thread that 'CANADA WILL WIN GOLD IN OT' (based on the entertainment and WOW factor it would give). Canada then went on to win all of it's next games, faced the US in the final, and won in OT.

These are fixes. True there isn't a lot of money in hockey, but that's why fixes are more likely. It's usually smaller leagues who fix anyway. NHL is trying to expand their market BECAUSE they don't have as much money as the other top leagues.

Hopefully DET/PHI can atleast make the series competitive, and then hopefully the 3rd round is as tight as the 1st round was.
