You can kick the puck all over the ice, but not to score? Its not even an advantage, often much harder to score by kicking than by using your stick

Remember the no skate in the crease rule that lasted one season? Now that was an awful rule. Almost every goal had to go under video review. Would of been great to be a goalie in the NHL that season though. A starting goalie probably would of had 20+ goals scored on them taken away over the course of the season.

its to cut down on ppl kicking at the puck in the crease where a goalie is trying to cover and stop the puck. Skates are sharp and dangerous and you should not be allowd to kick at a puck that a goalie is trying to cover
