    Away Team Facing Elimination....11-4
In the past 3 years (2010,2009,2008), an AWAY team facing elimination on the road for the FIRST time in the series, is 11-4 in that game.

Food for thought. I liked TB and NYR today and this makes me like them even more.

I guess this stat and the one where in series when Flyers have been up 2-1 in a series they have one loss and that was to NJ in 2000, is good for my Flyers tomorrow lol

What is this stat attributed to? Is it a random occurence that has no bearing on the two games today? Or, are there certain circumstances/factors that led to this number that also are in play here?

I think the situation just lends itself to the away team being a little more focused, realizing there is no tomorrow, but also the home team feeling some pressure to get it done now and not have it go back to the other teams building. That being said, I think the number being this high is porbably a little bit of a statistical fluke.

So, to sum up, I would not blindly play games based on this, but it is a factor. I like Tampa today.

Pete, was all manual research, so no.

              With TB winning, 12-4

I was looking at the home teams facing elimination for the first time too, results were very bad.

So basically what you're saying here is take the AWAY team in games 5 and 6.

No. It's only the FIRST elimination game (for each team in the series) and none after.

i.e. Mon vs Was is 2-2. Washington wins game 5. Game 6 in Washington-Montreal is the play.
In the case that Montreal wins game 6, Game 7 is a play for Washington since its their FIRST elimination game, and its on the road.

Add LA Kings to the play tonight.

Also, I failed to mention it only pertained to the first two rounds.

                        after NYR and LAK, 13-5.

Flyers and Ducks are both plays on this today; however, since I called Buffalo in 6 and attending the game, I'm only taking the ducks!

Very surprised about this elimination stat... As they say in the NHL playoffs the hardest game to win is the elimination game... It's like the Buffalo game tonight... I would think the pressure would be on Buffalo because they don't want to go back to Philly for game 7... The Flyers have pressure but nowhere near what Buffalo does today.. I agree.. The Flyers were the best road team in the NHL this year and will get done today..
