    Hockey Questions
I don't watch hockey nor know much of its rules. But if there is a total say 5. Does it mean if both teams score 2 goals, your bet is at least a tie? I know there is one overtime period and if necessary a shootout. But can a game end in a tie in hockey? If one team scores a goal in OT and its 2-2, i know the game is over 3-2. But is it also 3-2 if one team wins in a shootout? I know 5's don't happen much in hockey. I think 5.5 is the average number for a total. But what happens if its a tie in a shootout?

Also, how come records in hockey are something like 4-2-1. Is the 1 meaning the game went to overtime? Does it mean that game ended with a tie? What if the team went to overtime and lost. What would their record be if their current record is 4-2-1.

I don't know anything about hockey but would like to know these rules.

Games will keep going until they're over. Shootout rounds will get extended. A 2-2 game in OT has to end 3-2.

The 1 in the 4-2-1 record is an overtime loss.

okay so lets say a team record is 3-1 right now. The next game they play ff they go to overtime and wins, their record is now 4-1. But if they go to overtime and lose, they are now 3-1-1 correct?

Correct. And the losing team gets a point in the standings for forcing OT as well. The winning team gets 2.

The winning team gets 2 points regardless if it goes into overtime or not. The losing team can only get 1 point if it goes into overtime/shootout, otherwise they get 0.
