The Buffalo Sabres hold a 1-0 lead over the Thrashers after twenty minutes of play in Atlanta tonight. The Thrashers also failed to register a single shot on net as the visiting Sabres outshot Atlanta 9-0 in the first period.

Actually now that I checked another website, the shots are showing 10-2 in favor of Buffalo in the opening period of play. So that inital point may be wrong depending on which site you view. The first site I viewed had the first period of play as completed with the shots showing 9-0. It was obviously an error and has since been corrected as there was time remaining.
