Season's debut isn't quite we all expected for now on. I guess we'll need more games to identify the teams.

There's still a lot of time left. I remember I had the Pens in a game last year against the Caps and even a 4-1 lead wasn't safe going into the third period; the Caps came back to win.

Very true JVP. I've seen the Caps go into the 3rd down two goals and end up winning in regulation many times. I think Ovie wakes up and goes nuts in the 3rd.

Caps has been an awful team to play against last year, they were so unpredictable, not giving an inch, especially in 3ed period but the "machine" needs to wake up this year.
We've seen a big Malkin two years ago then became a "regular" + player. Will it be the same with Green or Semin ???
You can have the best players of the NHL, you need support to get it in the net.

Thanks for the plays DG. Who do you think will be the most solid teams to bet straight up every game this year? Underachievers and overachievers basically. Not necessarily playing your answers, just wondering

1-1 +$195 on the day. A good recovery after the opening night blunder.

I rarely bet straight ML on the heavy favorites but after a few months you will find out who the solid teams to bet are. Just look at the home records as a lot of teams are near unbeatable at home. A few that come to mind last year were the Sharks and Caps at home.

Brutal man that sucks. That's why I never touch heavy favorites on the ML, (I'm assuming this is what you did) because the league is just too unpredictable. Any team can beat a superior team on any given night. Whereas in other sports like football and basketball the heavy favorites pretty much never lose. Stick with it and just pick some dogs for awhile until you are back to even

Ondrej Pavelec has regained consciousness but will spend the night in hospital as doctors want to keep an eye on him.
Pavelec collapsed just over two minutes into the opening game of the season and was carted off the ice unconscious. He was asking questions about the score of the game at the hospital, so he is obviously feeling better but there is no known reason as to why he collapsed. He is in stable condition at this time. Stay tuned for further updates.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere will start in Saturday's game.
Giguere stopped 26 of 28 shots to help Toronto win their season opener on Thursday. Coach Ron Wilson wants to play Jonas Gustavsson at least once a week, but Giguere appears to be Toronto's clear number one goaltender.

Mike Smith will play between the pipes on Saturday.
Smith is getting the start over Dan Ellis, who probably won't have to wait too long before making his season debut. Smith and Ellis will probably battle for the number one gig until one of them gets hot. Oct. 8 - 2:28 pm et

Rick DiPietro will start in Saturday's game against the Dallas Stars.
DiPietro missed most of the last two seasons due to a knee injury, but it looks like he might finally put that behind him. If he can stay healthy this season, he'll have some fantasy value as the Islanders' number one goaltender. However, we'd still recommend using caution when evaluating DiPietro. He has suffered setbacks in the past. Oct. 8 - 12:34 pm et

i almost want to start a prop bet "how many games will DiPietro play this season?"
Pascal Leclaire will start in Ottawa's season opener on Friday.
Leclaire and Brian Elliott both had poor preseasons, but it looks like Leclaire will be given the first opportunity to put that behind him. The two goaltenders are expected to split playing time relatively evenly until one emerges as the clear starting netminder. Oct. 8 - 12:28 pm et

Looking forward to reading your thread this year DG (you are who we thought you were!). I couldn't tail you on Nj last night due to the fact they were playing my Stars. I know everyone is dogging on the Stars right now, but I honestly think they may surprise some people this year. I think Lehtonen has the stuff to be the best netminder in the game....provided he stays healthy. If we can get 60 games out of Kari....we make the playoffs. Period. I realize last night's win wasn't against your father's Devil's....but beating Brodeur at home is still something. Anyway, I appreciate your efforts. What time will you be posting your plays for each night's action? Do you typically have a play most days? Good luck to you this year. I will be following your thread. Lets make some money!! GO STARS!
